Test drove GT5 today!! http://blog.us.playstation.com/2010/09/21/...on-october-5th/It was a one day event at the Sony Center of Toronto, to show the upcoming ps3 release titles like gt5, little big planet 2, killzone 3, infamous 3, etc. There was supposed to be black ops too but it got canceled, the developers didn't want to release anything. I waited in the rain just for GT5, didn't give a shit about the other games, lol. Doors opened at 5pm. I arrived around 5 and waited a half hour to get in. Then I waited 40 minutes for the first game. An hour and a half for the second game, then I left. Each game was 2 minutes long as it was a demo and there was a huge lineup. We weren't allowed to change the settings so we had to deal with what was avaliable. All this gaming was done on a driving force GT (the one designed for GT5). One amazing thing was that before I sat down, NOBODY knew you could adjust the seat. Some guy stretched his toes to the very end and barely sat on the seat to play. Also, not too many dedicated GT gamers showed up. I'd say 90% of them didn't know what a brake pedal was. First impressions: First game I played was a Citroen GT concept on Nurburgring. Keep in mind that every player was only allowed 2 mins playtime (there was a counter) and so obviously I couldn't finish the course. I know the setup was AT transmission, S3 tires and TCS set at 5. Professional level physics. The rest I'm not sure because it was some other guy that set it. GT5 physics are amazing, but it was pretty hard to play. I took the course slowly and didn't push on it too hard. One thing I did notice is that you can lock your wheels now. On the long straightaway before the gentle left turn and then a right U turn, I hit about 240km/h. This isn't that fast, I usually do 270km/h to 280km/h there. I applied the brakes early but the brakes locked up and I spun 720 degrees, crashed a wall too. Don't remember if I had ABS enabled or not, but was something I didn't expect because I was taking the run really safely. Graphics were wicked sick, you can see the dirt patches in the grass as well as tire marks and tire smoke. Second impression: After the first run, i waited in line at another machine to play GT5. This time it was not on a 2d tv but a 3d tv that required 3d glasses. No idea about what settings were used, apart from the fact that it was on MT transmission. Car is the Mercedes SLS AMG and the track is the new rome circuit. I did very well on this course, I like the course alot. It is a bit like Cote D'azur / Monaco and Tokyo 246, with some and gentler turns. Little to no incline for the turns. Just an amazing feeling. I have to say, sony has pushed the graphics for GT5 to the limits of PS3 technology. I don't think the graphics could be improved anymore. Even though 3d technology is supposedly better, I couldn't see much of a difference compared to the 2d version. 3D TV's are not necessary for GT5 IMO. In fact they're worse because your friends in the living room would need to wear the 3d glasses as well in order to see you race properly. Can't wait for the game to come out. Going to search for a Logitech Driving Force GT next week. =)

I still need to get a PS3. Probably make a separate SRS team for GT5.

QUOTE (xeoreg @ 20 minutes, 2 seconds ago) | If anybody is getting the collector's just for the DLC cars let me know. I already preordered mine, but I only really wanted the book. I'm willing to sell all seven DLC cars for a price of $15USD/CDN when I get it. This will include the 5 DLC cars found in any collector's edition, as well as the McLaren F1 stealth model and Joey Logano's #20 Nationwide Gamestop/GT themed NASCAR. |
Shotgun.
