The first part of the climax!! GO~
Chapter 7 – Spotlights (スポットライト)
Exhaust tips were literally shooting flames on the competitor cars that gathered on the parking lot near the C1 area, as all eight cars literally blasted off at a blinding speed, with each of them equally matched in terms of acceleration, it was almost impossible to see who has the head start from afar after the lady counted down to zero and literally started the battle between two teams.
“Whoa…they were all equally matched!” One of the spectators said as he continue recording with his handphone on.
“Who do you think’s gonna win, man!” Another man said with enthusiasm as he turned his attention to a woman standing next to him.
“I don’t know…but I think the one driving the McLaren F1 is really mysterious and cool!!” The woman said with a squeal. “That helmet driver has my vote for sure!!” Far away from the crowd, it was then later seen that most of the Steel Rose Maiden members were being the chasers after their terrific start dash from the route leading them on C1 not too long ago, while the one in leading the entire race was the Honda CR-X wobbling like crazy around the highway roads, slaloming and doing unnecessary maneuvers around the traffic cars. As they continued on their intense eight-way race, they finally reached to the point where the Tokyo Tower is seen shimmering along with the other buildings at the night sky. And from that point, there seemed to be a Boeing 747 flying across the sky too at a very high altitude.
“You won’t be passing me, kid!” Seong muttered as he tries as hard as he could to maintain his steering on a stable manner, despite the fact that he has to slalom through a number of traffic vehicles to do so. His speedometer indicates that he is travelling over 260 km/h in speed and he is under the 6th gear’s stable acceleration. The setting on his last gear was set for maximum top speed in compromise of acceleration for Seong realize that in order to compete against Euro cars; he had to have more top speed. Currently while tackling the corners of the C1 area nearby the Tokyo Tower, his Silvia S15 continued its pace and maintained a stable second place, while trying its best to block the 911 GT3’s path from behind, which is currently about 30 meters behind where the S15 is. But the GT3 is now showing any signs of wanting to overtake still, which somewhat made Seong felt suspicious. “Come on…you don’t wanna pass?!”
“…Risky…” Lacia whispered on her lips as she remained calm and controlled her Porsche under a stable pace. On her tachometer shows that she is still keeping her revolution under a very stable 7000 rpm while the speedometer shows that she is tearing through the highway roads at 160 mph, which is still holding a very close speed range to Seong’s S15, despite being the chaser. The 911 GT3 was literally pressuring the escaping S15 all the way, but as to how long Seong can withstand the pressure, it is still anyone’s guess. As they pass through the dropping path of the C1 road after crossing through the Tokyo Tower, they eventually entered Hamazakibashi Branching at the inner side of the area.
“Heh…Hamazakibashi…” The Evo VII driver chuckled as he tries to feather his accelerator while only hit the brakes for a short second, trying to drift his way on to the sharp left turn at the boggling speed of over 200 km/h. His Evo VII’s tachometer shows that he’s revving the car up to 6000 rpm, while maintaining at 4th gear, as he steer hard, now keeping the acceleration pedal on to maintain the drift motion of his 4WD car. Realizing that if he feathers his gas pedal any further, understeer will definitely occur.
The Jaguar XKR-S on the other hand remained stable in its grip driving form, as Setsuna controlled her acceleration while keeping the boost on her machine by left foot braking. Her tachometer shows that she is revving around 5,500 rpm while the speedometer states that the car is now travelling at 145 mp/h speed while maintaining its cornering angle.
“That Evo VII sure knows how to maintain its cool…but we’d see how long you can keep that cool head of yours.” Setsuna thought as she continued to remain at the rear of the Evo VII, where eventually her Jaguar is now entering slipstream, as the amount of air resistance begins to drop rapidly, her XKR-S continued to build speed at a steady level. Not long after the corner was cleared, the XKR-S was already right behind the Evo VII’s tail, following it so close that the Jaguar almost grazed the tail of the Mitsubishi with its front bumper. “Come on, try and go faster from here on!”
“Dammit!” The Evo VII driver noticed that Setsuna is now slipstreaming from behind. But with the amount of traffic cars obstructing his other paths, there aren’t many options for him other than to tough it out while hoping that he can enter an all-clear area where he can move out of the range of the slipstream, or he could choose to remain on the same path as Setsuna to block her further from overtaking. “Now what do I do…?”
Meanwhile, as the Honda CR-X continued its lead, the Audi R8 was about 70 meters behind the CR-X. From the driver’s view, it seems that the driver inside is still going crazy on the wheels, and worse part is that instead of concentrating fully on the road, he is headbanging on the insanely loud hip hop music on his radio and the blaster speakers from his car’s rear trunk can be heard clearly even if it’s closed tight. From the way how the CR-X moves, Rong Wei can only shook her head in disappointment on such a poor display of a driver’s discipline.
“This kid is seriously hopeless…” Rong Wei said as she continued on her pressure towards the Honda, despite knowing that the kid driving the car will not pay attention to her. As Rong Wei stepped on the acceleration pedal and rev her car all the way to 7500 at 4th gear, she blasted her Audi R8 through the gentle curves at the Hamazakibashi area at a smooth speed of nearing 140 mp/h. As the Honda CR-X continued its speeding at a dangerous 260 km/h on the straight roads in the tunnel, all the competitors have arrived in the Ginza area, where the leading man is still busy banging his head to check his rear mirror where the R8 is already 40 meters behind him not too long ago. The R8 is climbing smoothly, despite the CR-X’s reckless maneuvering on the C1.
Finally, on the part where the RX-8 is currently becoming the 3rd in position among the rest, the driver is seen with a very confident smile. As he was pressing hard on his acceleration pad and travelling at a speed of over 250 km/h while maintaining its sixth gear, the McLaren F1 continued to remain glued to its rear, not letting the RX-8 off its sights.
“God damn…!” The RX-8 driver uttered as he continued to press the accelerator pedal even harder, even though he is already reaching full throttle. “How can an NA car run this fast?!” As he continues to panic, his position was starting to dwindle behind as his car is showing signs of instability. But nonetheless the RX-8’s acceleration remained fierce as Shinobu can clearly see that the driver hasn’t let go off his right leg on the gas. As all eight cars made their way towards the first S-curve, The RX-8 driver immediately let go off his accelerator and hit the brakes hard before he tackles the curve with incredible force. As he steer hard, the RX-8 nearly initiated a drift motion, but before the sliding begins, the driver immediately steer back a little on his wheels to prevent the car from what it may seem like a spin out.
“Too soon with the brakes, my friend…” Shinobu calmly chuckled as he gently let go off his accelerator and pressed on the brake pedal, while downshift his shifter back to fifth gear while maintain a steady 6000 rpm on his revolution rate, as he lock his wheels on the S-Curve’s direction, the McLaren F1 beautifully dodged an outer lane’s traffic car, while taking the open space by chance, the black F1 snuck its way through the opening left by the somewhat stalling RX-8 and overtook the driver easily on the first S-Curve as the F1 hugged the inside after the second exit of the first curve. “Try and keep up.” As Shinobu overtook the RX-8 driver easily, he started chasing after the Evo VII which is currently ahead of him by 30 meters, while he is close to where the blue XKR-S is right now.
“SHIT!!’ The RX-8 driver cursed as he slammed on the accelerator after shifting his gear back to 6th gear as he pass through the narrow second S-Curve path, followed by the S15 which is now on the 4th place as the Porsche 911 GT3 continued to pressure the Korean racer from the rear. Once the second S-curve closed in, everyone slammed on their brakes with different timing. While the Steel Rose Maidens did it with precision, the other team was a complete mess, some brake too early while the other just hit the brakes too late, as their cars tackled the corners wildly, only to be closely followed by the smooth cornering maneuver from the four non-Japanese cars.
From the bird’s eye view on the Ginza area, the sloppiness and messy rhythm between the drivers on the Japanese cars can clearly be seen with the wobbling and constant unstable countersteering to keep the car straight in motion, while the four other cars nailed their record lines beautifully. From a distance it almost felt as if Shinobu’s team is literally carving an ideal line through the corners all the way from entry to exit. As the battle continued on, the Porsche 911 is beginning to make its move; despite remained as the last in the position next to the S15. Not knowing what to do, the S15 continued to charge recklessly as they passed through the first divider.
“Dammit…this…this is just nuts…!!” Seong exclaimed in disbelief as he realized that despite he has the top speed advantage, it is still hardly enough to counter Lacia’s 911 GT3 on even terms as Lacia’s control towards her car was clearly far more refined than Seong’s premature handling skills. Soon not long after, there was an opening on the S15’s left side as they made their way through the second divider. Lacia steered her 911 GT3 slowly to nail the opening spot while maintaining her pressure stance, but Seong realize what is Lacia planning to do, and of course, needless to say; he will not allow such opportunity for his opponent. “You want to go through my open spot? Ask me first, gothie!!”
“…too late…” Lacia thought as she quickly steered back to the right side and while with the S15 charging right at the middle, the divider was already 20 meters from impact. Lacia immediately lock her steering wheel all the way to the right path as far from the S15 as possible, knowing that something bad is going to happen soon. Taking a single deep breath of faith, Lacia deepens her pressure on the acceleration pedal and immediately sends her GT3 RS charging towards by a blinding 165 mp/h speed as she pass through the second divider, and overtaking the S15 cleanly. But back to the S15, Seong wasn’t so lucky anymore from that point. As soon as the Porsche passed the S15, Seong tried to steer back to the right path, but before he can even lock the steering back, the Silvia finally crashed its front bumper directly towards the divider, bending the car completely, and igniting the fuel together. The Nissan Silvia immediately vanished into a brilliant orange mushroom cloud of flames as the car exploded from the fuel ignition.
Lacia ignored the exploded S15 as she continued on her race with the remaining 3 more competitors that will eventually head their way towards the Edobashi Branching soon enough. While slaloming at speed of about 150 mp/h now, Lacia continued to pass through traffic cars and eventually catch up to the Evo VII and RX-8, which was closely followed by their chasers; the Audi R8, XKR-S and McLaren F1. The Honda CR-X on the other hand remained as the leader still, but not long after the car began to show some signs of tire wearing down as they reach near the Edobashi Branching. Smokes were gushing out from the Honda’s rear tires, and both the RX-8 and Evo VII drivers knew it was a bad sign.
“Dammit…that idiot!” The Evo VII driver growled in frustration as he quickly pressed the accelerator and further left the XKR-S, only to be followed closely by the slipstream position still. All this time, Setsuna’s slipstreaming position remained glued to the Evo VII’s rear, building an incredible amount of pressure that will eventually make the driver in the Mitsubishi crack. And once it does, it’s the end for the driver. As soon as they both increased their pace towards 300 km/h over, both Setsuna and the Evo VII driver immediately overtook the Honda CR-X, leaving it to dust while the Audi R8 is already catching up on its way to a mere 5 meters in range. “I should’ve known that guy can’t handle that much power…he’s not paying attention… And this woman’s driving…how the f**k is she still under slipstream?!”
“Try as you may, Gao…but there’s no way you can escape while driving half asleep like that.” Setsuna laughed as she addressed the Evo VII’s driver name. While maintaining under slipstream range still, the pressure has finally breached the limit of Gao’s sense as he started to break under that amount of pressure built all the way from the starting point. Her XKR-S is now standing firmly on second place while the Evo VII is now leading the entire race, while the Honda is now cracking under huge pressure from Rong Wei’s Audi R8.
“God dammit! Is this really how the machines outside run?! We have beaten BMWs!! How can we lose?!” The driver in the Honda CR-X said nervously, now currently neck to neck with the R8 as Rong Wei remained steady with her acceleration pedal and just overtook the CR-X as it continued to fall behind, taking its 3rd position in an instant. The Honda CR-X continued to accelerate, but to no avail as the tires are no longer responding as much grip as it may be, due to the unnecessary tire wear with his wobbling at the early part of the race. “Shit!! SHIT!! HOW CAN A SHITTY R8 RUN THIS FAST!!”
As the Honda CR-X continued to fall behind due to its load of unnecessary tools such as the sub-woofer and blaster speakers along with the huge neon lights, the worn out front tires were not helping much either on the traction as the car stalls even further, until the current 6th place Lacia in her Porsche 911 GT3 finally caught up. “Oh no you don’t!! I won’t let you pass me!! Ain’t no stinking Porsche is gonna pass me!! Not especially when you’re a gi—“ Before the desperate driver can even finish his sentence, Lacia’s Porsche 911 GT3 had already overtook him by a wide margin as they entered Edobashi Branching, leaving it on the last position, while the McLaren F1 and RX-8 blasted forward continuously. “OH COME ON ALREADY!!!”
With the Honda CR-X out of the picture, the leading Evo VII and the rest have finally entered the Edobashi Branching’s sharp turn. While the Evo VII is still being pressured hard by the blue Jaguar, Gao tried to resist the pressure even more despite reaching his limit, and he slammed on the brakes while downshift to third gear at 170 km/h speed. Setsuna merely smiled, followed by her comrades’ shared thoughts:
“Too soon, man…” As Setsuna slams the brake at a second later, she shifts down to fourth gear, she immediately lock her steering wheel in a certain angle without too much oversteer, as the XKR-S tackled its way through the corner, and hugging the inside with just about enough tire grip on its front left tire. And while Gao tried to imitate doing the same thing, his Evo VII’s front tires began to stop responding after a period of time. And soon after that, Gao’s Evo VII started to open up a path where there is a space wide enough for a car to pass through…
“Oh shit!!” Gao thought as he helplessly watched the Jaguar XKR-S overtook the Evo VII instantly by that moment after the cleared section on the Edobashi, followed by the RX-8, then the McLaren F1 and the Porsche 911 GT3. And the Honda CR-X was literally way behind the other cars ahead, where the driver was literally raging in anger inside, spouting inaudible cusses and so on. Even the Audi R8 which was supposed to be the slowest out of the four members in Steel Rose Maidens team, has caught up closely to both the RX-8 and Evo VII, making it a four against two battle literally.
“Shit f**k…is this all that is left of our team?” the RX-8 driver uttered in slight panic as he realize that he is in a deep pinch, where he was closely chased by not just the McLaren F1, but followed up by the Porsche 911 and the Audi R8 too from behind. The pressure mounting from the three chasers were instantly skyrocketed to the point where the Mazda driver is now breaking a whole lot of cold sweats, and his face turned pale, almost as white as a sheet.
“Bend over…Mazda kid…you know it’s all over now.” Rong Wei thought as she continued on with her pressure on the left side of the RX-8 that is trying hard to maintain its steadiness as the remaining six cars made their way towards the Kadabanshi area after that. Lacia on her Porsche 911 remained as calm as always and only focused on pressuring the RX-8 driver further from behind while the McLaren F1 made its way smoothly on the right side, boxing the RX-8 literally on a 3-lane attack. Unconsciously, Lacia is now entering slipstream range behind the RX-8 while they were all travelling at over 280 km/h at the moment on the winding area of the Kadabanshi in C1 area. Lacia was literally holding her slipstream position as tight as she can, where her speed is now building steadily as the RX-8 continue to show signs of psyching out.
“…The…end…” Lacia thought quietly as she spotted the McLaren F1 opening a space just wide enough for her Porsche to do a slipstream pass. Reacting quickly, Lacia locked her steering wheels closely on the right side and after the Porsche got out from the RX-8’s drafting zone, Lacia’s black GT3 RS shoots off like an arrow from a bow as she literally blasted off in a swift and mind boggling speed of 190 mp/h! As her car overtook the RX-8 and climb its way through the position of the Evo VII afterwards, the Porsche 911 continued to dash further away from Gao and the rest of the other competitors. Now taking the lead, Lacia focus all her concentration to the road ahead of her now.
“This is it…” Setsuna thought as she continued to focus on overtaking the Evo VII. As she turn her attention back to the leading Porsche 911, she then realized her driving pace has increased even more and the way she corners have become different. “This is where Lacia will show her true colors…once she’s ahead, there’s no overtaking her if they couldn’t figure out her trick.” And as the Porsche continued on, the car’s position on the line differs completely on how it slalomed through traffic cars and maintained in its position. Gao could hardly believe how Lacia is managing her car right now.
“What in the hell?” Gao thought in fear, as he watched how the black 911 GT3 slalomed a few traffic cars and still managed to stay ahead of the acceleration line. Maintaining one lane to another after a momentarily switch, her lining almost seemed as if it’s thrown everywhere on the highway, but strangely enough, she is not showing any signs of slowing down at all. In fact, her Porsche GT3 keeps pulling further and further away as the XKR-S, Audi R8 and the McLaren F1 chased the black car closely. The RX-8 on the other hand only fell behind after a period of time when he was overtaken by the other cars. The driver inside the rotary machine could hardly believe what he saw too. “I’ve never seen anyone that can climb on such speed like that…!”
“Dammit…how is this even possible?!” The RX-8 driver exclaimed as he continued to press on his accelerator pedal, despite the fact that his RX-8 is already reaching its limit on the tire grip. His speedometer shows that he’s literally speeding over 260 km/h, but it feels like the car is stalling even though he is pressing the acceleration so hard. As seconds pass by, The McLaren F1, Audi R8 and the other two cars slowly fade out from their front view mirrors. Gao and the driver were literally thunderstruck on how the four cars just literally vanished after Lacia’s successful overtake. “I can’t…believe this…what type of driving is that…?”
As both the RX-8 and Evo VII continues to fall behind on their way through the Chiyoda tunnel area, the remaining four cars continued their friendly clash as they went full blast continuously through the tunnel where the Porsche 911 is still leading strong ahead of the current second placed McLaren F1 by 40 meters, followed closely by the XKR-S and Audi R8. Each of the drivers inside now believed that it has turned into their own friendly race now, so as they continued on to the last section of the C1, they pressed on as hard as they could and compete as real opponents.
“Oh well…it’s just us now.” Shinobu shrugged as he stepped on the accelerator and focus more on chasing the Porsche 911 GT3, followed by Setsuna chasing Shinobu with Rong Wei closing up on another side. Shinobu knew it was time to prove what each and every single driver here together as a team can do individually on this last stretch section. “Guess it’s just us now….let’s do it.”
Rong Wei and Setsuna merely smiled as they keep on with their pace as they now reached over 190 mp/h as they blast through the gently curves as if they’re straights. The XKR-S and Audi R8 literally slalomed through the traffic cars beautifully without any unnecessary maneuvers. While the McLaren F1 continued to close its gap between the Porsche 911 GT3. Now all four cars are tightly packed together in between their positions, with Lacia leading the race still. It was only a matter of time before they complete the entire C1 loop. And soon there comes a corner that isn’t exactly too sharp, four of the racers immediately braced themselves for gassing off the acceleration.
“Come on, Shinobu…keep going, you can do it!” Setsuna praised in her thoughts as she watched closely on how the McLaren F1 maintained its position right behind the Porsche. As Setsuna continued to steer gently on the wheels, her Jaguar XKR-S slalomed through a huge truck while maintained its cornering angle without sliding out too much on the outer lane, keeping its position under a stable pace while decelerated back to 150 mp/h, Lacia, Shinobu and Rong Wei also did the same as their timing was perfect. All four cars tackled the corner beautifully using their own linings as they maintained their cars from touching anything on the road, such as the walls and the traffic cars and trucks.
“Great, we’re dashing beautifully.” Rong Wei thought as she maintained her momentum on the Audi. As she gently shifts her gear up to the 5th gear, she revved the tachometer all the way back to 7600 rpm and once it hits 7800 rpm, she shifts back to the 6th gear as her speedometer shows that she is already travelling over 190 mp/h once more. The Audi R8 was still sticking close towards the McLaren F1, while the Jaguar XKR-S is now in front of Rong Wei’s view, but despite the fact that Rong Wei is currently the 4th place in the race, she is still not exactly easing up at all. She knew this was going to be a friendly match where it will test all of their driving limits. To Rong Wei, being either the last place of the four or being number one didn’t matter anymore, it’s just for the love of the speed and thrill in riding on the highway all out…
“Amazing…Shinobu…Setsuna…Rong Wei…everyone…” Lacia smiled slightly, as she keeps on her accelerator. Surprisingly, even though she wasn’t showing any signs of slowing down at all, apparently, from her rearview mirror, the McLaren F1 was closing in very fast. Lacia knew that even though they were in top conditions, Shinobu seemed to have a higher advantage due to his car’s top speed. As Lacia was travelling at nearly 200 mp/h, Shinobu’s speedometer already indicated that he is travelling over 210 mp/h and it’s still increasing quickly due to the improved torque setting. As the McLaren F1 made a clean overtake, Lacia and the others just gazed in awe as Shinobu took the lead smoothly while slalomed a few more traffic vehicles on the front.
“Now that sure was a fun ride…” Shinobu thought with a smile. “Too bad the other guys behind couldn’t see us well enough though. Oh well, it’s their loss…” As they continued on towards the last section of the C1 inner loop, they turned towards the route that guide them back to the parking area soon after, with Shinobu placed in number one spot, Lacia in number two, Setsuna in number three and finally Rong Wei in number four. The match is finally over with Steel Rose Maidens getting a complete victory over the other opposing team. Not too far from their current position, above the other side of the road stood a few figures spying on them literally with a surveillance camera on their hands. And soon after the cars reached to their designated goal point, a radio transmission begins to announce through the communicator on the spies’ ears.
“This is your commander speaking. Do not move an inch until we told you to. Got it?” The person in command ordered.
“Yes sir.” The spies obeyed as they continued on with their observation through the upper path.
As their cars returned to the parking lot, they crossed towards the crowd, all cheering on for the victors as they slowly made their way back to their original spots when they first arrived. The McLaren F1 was literally being surrounded by most females, but as the helmet-wearing driver got out from the car, most of the people backed off a bit to give him some space, oddly enough; considering on how wild they were at the beginning of the event. And soon as the other three stepped out of their cars too, they went and joined up with Shinobu, where he is already waving at the people that cheered on to them.
“Amazing driving, KARASU.” Setsuna gave a huge pat on Shinobu’s back as she lands an arm on his shoulders, gripping him firmly, much like a charm of a tomboy showing her appreciation to a person she likes. Shinobu could hardly get used to the unsual strength of Setsuna, but he is doesn’t mind much at all. “I knew you had it in you. That was a very clean run.”
“Beautiful, KARASU.” Rong Wei praised on. “I watched how you nailed those corners nicely. The throttle control was almost like an art in the making. You really have a refined style in driving your machine. I am impressed.” And besides the Chinese female driver, stood Lacia who is literally clapping her hands with a stoic expression, yet she is still able to wear a smile on her face, clearly from Shinobu’s point of view, she is very happy, despite her being number two.
“Very…nice…Shino…I mean…KARASU…” Lacia said, in her usual disrupted manner from her symptoms. But nonetheless, her message was clear enough to all the members as they were about to celebrate on their victory with the crowds. Soon after, the other team cars have finally made it back to the parking lot, with the leading Evo VII returning to the line first, followed by the RX-8 and finally the Honda CR-X, which was literally damaged on its side doors.
“Oh…lookie…thought we’d lost them further.” Shinobu said as he noticed the damaged CR-X. One glimpse from the car and he knew the driver has made a lot of mistakes back then when he was struggling to catch up. The Evo VII and RX-8 were also somehow damaged on their wheels and it seems like the RX-8’s huge wings got chipped off by a small part from an impact made. Lacia remained silent as she realized what happened to the S15 back there, while she paid no heed to the losing team’s reactions. The crowd literally grew silent as these drivers got out from their cars.
“You’d never get the money from us…” The Evo VII driver grunted in frustration, as he was surrounded by both the Honda CR-X driver and the RX-8 driver too like two bodyguards. Their expressions were identical that of a sore loser that just started throwing a tantrum after losing a game. Setsuna and the girls surround Shinobu, doing the same too as they knew it wouldn’t end well when the losing team refuse to admit defeat. “…and there’s no way we will accept this loss from you people using these cheat vehicles that weren’t even supposed to be street legal.”
“And you killed one of our members, Seong…don’t think you’d be getting away with that!” The RX-8 driver added as he started cracking his knuckles, just after he’s doing doing that, he finally grabbed a weapon from his belt and pulls out a Glock on them. “You expect us to give you the money after you played dirty against our team mates?” The crowd was literally shocked at the display of the weapon from the sore RX-8 driver, but it seems like Shinobu wasn’t fazed by the gun pointing his head at all. Inside his helmet, he was even smiling calmly, not showing any signs of fear.
“Look, as far as I can recall…” Setsuna stepped forward, still trying to reason with the other losing team. “Your S15 driver mate screwed up on a bad time himself and he couldn’t control the car when the dividers came. So how is that our fault? Forget about paying up, what exactly do you think this is gonna prove? Do you even have any proof that it is our fault at first place?”
“We don’t need no shitting proof, dammit!!” The Honda CR-X driver snapped as he took out another handgun and pointed it towards Shinobu’s head together with the RX-8 driver. “YOU PEOPLE are all just lousy cheaters who can’t learn to play fair! HAH!! Don’ t make me laugh!!”
“Now you’re not even talking sense!” Rong Wei added, as she steps ahead and tried to cover Shinobu. “YOU people are the one who originally said you can take on any machines. Now you’re making a fuss just because a member of yours made a screw up and killed himself in the process? What kind of a stupid accusation is that?”
“Enough…regardless…you’re not getting away from this alive…NONE OF YOU WILL BE GETTING AWAY!!” Gao finally said his words as he pulled an automatic handgun on Shinobu’s head, all three of them pointing at him with guns. But as he was about to say a word in retaliation, a very faint sound of a siren wailing is finally heard from far away.
“What in the…?” Gao turned and he still hasn’t noticed any cars with red and blue lights flashing around, but one thing is made certain…the cars with equipments and paintjobs that racers generally despise most across the world of racing on the streets…
“…Cops…” Lacia uttered as she turned her attention upwards the sky and noticed a helicopter approaching at a very fast speed and with its searchlights turned on. And as expected; the lights all turned towards everyone standing at the parking area, literally blinding everyone there on the spot. Shinobu however, remained unfazed as he turned slowly to the helicopter with his helmet on and waved calmly at the pilot!
“That guy…is he nuts or something?” The pilot inside the helicopter said as he finally turned on the communication radio and notices all units nearby somewhere on the area that the racers are. “…anyway, all units! Visual confirmation on the main target KARASU and the other 3 suspects!! Our orders are not to kill them, but bring them in for both identification and negotiations, you got that? Begin operation at anytime, neutralize all other street racers and bring them in for processing. Do not kill all of them; only leave the ones involved in the race as exception saved for our required suspects. ”
As the voice reached to most of the units on every junctions of the road gathered for emergency stopping on those highway roads in the Shutoku Area, not too far away from where Shinobu stands, there parked three familiar interceptor cars and behind them five more Maserati Interceptors.
And inside the Ford Shelby GT500 cop car, the woman police officer’s cold and low toned-voice spoke to the radio with a single command…
“Understood…Commencing pursuit…”

@Kuroi You seem to have a good idea on how to make the readers sympathize (or otherwise) with the characters... It'll be interesting to see how the good people on their respective sides of the law meet face to face in their respective encounters... Keep it up bro

Character design and crest design is from the talented Maestro Rin. “It’s not that I am being naïve and immature, it’s just that seeing the way you children behave now in your middle 30s made me feel like a 70 years old lady and being the only sane one here with a flexible view of the world in its state. Only under such a petty conflict of maintaining your reputation of your own governmentally-powered syndicate and you’re all whining and weeping like little girls as if you are about to lose your virginities.
Why not pause and think for a moment of what you should do as adults? Are your 30 year old brains just meant for decorations inside your thick skulls? Use it before you make a fuss out of such petty little things.”Name: Asriel Chello van Cugnot Rothschild (アスリエル チェロ バン キュニョー ロスチャイルド) Age: Unknown (20-25 in appearance) Hair Color: Grayish black Eye color: Crimson red/amber Nicknames: The Noble, Soft-Meanie (by Shinobu), Kaiserin Asriel, The rightful Heiress, Countess Asriel Nationality: Unknown Occupation: General Business Manager, Test-driver, Experimental concept Cars Project Manager, CEO of multiple car manufacturing companies, Public road service funding efforts manager. Cars: She has no fixed cars, apparently any car she drives are formidable machines on all forms of racing stages (Circuit, Highway, Mountain passes). She will drive any cars on any occasion she sees fit. Self Defense: Her servants will do all the fighting if there are any conflicts. Personality: As an aristocratic heiress of a very rich noble family, Asriel spoke on a very graceful and charming low-tone, hardly ever shouts at anyone; if she even raised her voice at all during an argument. Asriel is very calm, cool-headed and above all, proud of herself and took pride on her role as a manager with her level of wisdom and knowledge to lead her businessmen towards success on a friendly and wealthy environment, thanks to her endless wealth. She has a very heavy air of elegance and dignity, due to her position as a noble with riches surpassing easily of any other governmental and political individuals out there. Though she is a proud noble, she doesn’t necessarily expect everyone to have the highest form of formalities when talking to her, for she knows that not all people can acknowledge her equally. She also has a tendency to view many common people as either “children” or at worst case, “unborn babies” when she realize that they are immoral people that has the lowest form of self-dignity and lack even the basic respect quality towards other individuals. She always belittles them freely, knowing that these people can never do anything to her even if she spoke openly about it, for she is well-protected by bodyguards everywhere. However, despite her cruel remarks at times, she can be very open-hearted too and will view someone as a “fine adult” when she respects a person enough. She also has high respect towards her subordinates and servants, praising them from time to time when they did something admirable, but at the same time she can also be a very strict mistress and will punish anyone that made horrible mistakes, and she is usually very demanding when it comes to service-standards. She is also somewhat of a strict mentor or a teacher when it comes to teaching her servants on how to drive, generally forging them slowly but surely into fearsome drivers that can match even the most experienced and advanced professional veteran drivers across the racing world circle. She is also very sarcastic and loves nothing more than occasionally teasing anyone with her usual cold remarks, and always managed to add a bit of black humor on even the most serious subjects or situation, usually earning her the annoyance of many individuals whom cannot seem to understand Asriel’s sense of humor sometimes. Despite her snarky attitude sometimes, she is always seen serious with a stoic expression, but as to whether she is really a cold person deep down, it’s anyone’s guess. As Asriel may look threatening and tyrannical even to an extent, she can be very kindhearted and caring too when it comes to helping her friends in hardship, and isn’t afraid of getting her hands dirty. She also has a good relationship particularly with one of her female servants, as she is the most refined driver Asriel has ever personally forged thanks to her wealth spent on many racing lessons as well as her own personal experience from driving alone shared towards the servant alone, distinguishing her from the rest of other subordinates. Her relationship with Shinobu is the most significant of all; as Asriel proposed to Shinobu at his early teens when they both knew each other at the very young age that time. Asriel still remained in contact with Shinobu despite his unexplained disappearance, as she was always “watching” him even from afar. Asriel cares deeply for Shinobu’s well-being and has an unquestionable level of affection and love towards her fiancée. Hoping that someday Shinobu will fulfill the engagement, Asriel vow to allow Shinobu to finish everything there is to finish before both of them are married in the future, and Asriel is also very tolerant as to how Shinobu interact with other women, believing that no matter what Shinobu do, he will always be Asriel’s beloved fiancée, and soon to be husband. She also has a special friendship relation with a mysterious female, known as Oniko Shimamiya. As to their actual connection in between, it remains an intriguing question. Biography: Asriel is the current head of the House Cugnot Rothschild family and she is an extremely powerful individual in terms of authority and noble status, up to the point that she has one tenth of the entire world’s governmental system’s individuals under her control and management thanks to her amount of wealth and business success within a long tradition in terms of machine industries, especially on worldwide transportation. She is an aristocrat with extreme high standards and has a very calm air around her royal-like personality, often belittling any people she deemed as insignificant with sharp tongued insults, and she is also a strict mistress when it comes to disciplining her own subjects and servants. Ever since her confinement on the old castle that her father, Count Cugnot Rothschild build specially for Asriel’s studying purpose, she has lived a rather sheltered life, often only relying on the encyclopedias and informative books crammed inside the colossal library inside her castle to enrich her own minds in what of the outside world is. Her sheltered life continues on since 5 years old all the way to 13 years old, where her father passed away from a heart attack. Freed from her father’s confinement at least, Asriel stepped out from her castle to learn of the things outside her, as she continues to watch on the real world’s events on how the citizens drove their transportations in different ways, learning different methods of handling business trades. And as life moves on, she finally met Shinobu Kurohane, whom believed that she is seeking for a sense of freedom too despite not wanting to give up her position as the next heir of the family’s general business matters. Hoping to take up her father’s position as the head of an essential automotive and transportation manufacturing company, Asriel begin to forge a new path of her own career as a multi-manager in handling several businesses at once. Her business knowledge expanded all its way to the point where she can easily manage several companies that is signed under her name, earning her countless riches with over millions of customer using her specially tuned vehicles for multi-proposes, mostly to racing and to governmental limousines for aristocratic charm. She started her business path at a mere 16 years old, right after where she proposed to Shinobu of getting married someday when she has become successful in her own company. After Shinobu promised her to someday get married when she reached 19 years old, Shinobu disappeared somewhere else and said he too will achieve something admirable in the world of racing while waiting for Asriel’s success as he part ways with her. Believing in Shinobu’s will of wanting to climb to the top in his own sense, Asriel rose up and do what needs to be done, and that is to be the very best automobile business lady there ever was, managing the greatest racing industry ever known while carrying her father and family’s legacy in efforts of automobile manufacturing. She is also an extremely formidable driver, learning every skill that she can afford from her paid driving schools, ranging from basics to the professional levels, and with a twist of her training efforts on mountain passes; extending all its way towards other racing stages across the entire globe in her effort, she has literally mastered every track there is to master in the entire world, thanks to her wealth spent wisely on her machines as well as her efforts in leaning everything she can from masters that she paid good money for, not wishing anything in return but valuable lessons and experience. In the legendary stage of the Nurburgring Nordschleife, she is said to hold an outstanding record time using a hyper car that was classified in name. Her current record time by driver name is 6:45 in terms of time attack using the car, though the name of the car remained as classified and her name was snipped and altered as Kaiserin instead of her actual name. Her racing time is currently 6:11:777, making it the fastest lap ever done by a woman driver, with an astonishing average speed record of 204 km/h, and top speed exceeding 400 km/h. Even up to this date, no woman driver has the ability to surpass her in terms of controlling any sort of vehicles that can match up to at least 8 minutes of a lap time on The Nurburgring Nordschleife. She is also responsible for funding 90% of the weapon production and police car interceptor manufacturing efforts towards the PSE (Public Speed Enforcer) and PSC (Public Security Committee) syndicate, giving her equal rights and authority to command just about any members inside either one of the syndicates, safe for their own respective superiors and high command officers. Driving Style: Nothing is ever said much in particular about Asriel’s driving style, as she hardly ever goes all out, thanks to her long time experience in driving, eclipsed with her unusual absorbing talent in learning knowledge of her foes’ driving methods and use it against them. She always have the ability to find the weak spot even on the tiniest bit of her opponents’ strategy drawbacks in whatever tactics they use, making her somewhat of an ideal chaser with uncanny ability to turn the tide of the race to her favor using opponents’ intelligence on their own. Thanks to her deep insights, she hardly gets shocked and if she even flinches at all in an actual pressured race position, always maintaining a cool head in handling tight situations. In terms of racer mindset, her mind is equivalent to that of a veteran champion driver that has over 40 years of driving experience, giving her the absolute advantage to always remain calm and handle obstacles in professional manner. As her current form, Asriel can easily use merely 4/10 of her own driving sense to easily win most of the battles and challenges issued to her. Unless her opponents are incredibly skilled, she will never use anything more than 50% of her skills, not wanting to let the public know too much of what she is capable of. As the mentor and original teacher of her servants in forging them as fine drivers with her knowledge and experience; she can handle all forms of cars, and never compromise when it comes to mastering vehicles that were meant for either family domestic purposes or even dangerous machines that were literally build with the obsession of insurmountable speed, all the way to heavy SUV cars that were meant to be driven at bumpy courses or 4WD rally cars. She is also once the youngest female Formula F1 driver known around the world. As to how many car brands she has ever driven in her life, it can literally be anyone’s guess, as the production car brands out there are literally infinite, other than the well-known manufacturers aside. TriviaI: Her full name (save her own name Asriel) came from numerous references from many actual individuals involved in formula F1 racing world, car-production history as well as the name of wealthiest family ever known in the world’s history. Chello – A pun name from one of the most experienced F1 drivers known in history – Rubens Barrichello Cugnot – The name is taken from the man to ever produce the first self-propelled mechanical vehicle – Nicolas-Joseph Cugnot (1725-1804) Rothschild – the last name; true to its recognition – is the name taken from the infamous Rothschilds; a royal family that was mostly known for its infinitely massive amounts of fortune even known to this date, as the family’s wealth is believed to exceed 500 trillion dollars, perhaps even more. II: Asriel, despite being the richest person in the world, was never mentioned officially even in book of world records, for the Rothschild family name was originally long gone since historical times of 19th century, not wanting to cause conflicts or confusion in between the recent House Rothschild and the one in history itself. III: Ironically, despite having a large family, Asriel appears to be the only daughter that took up her father’s place after his death, while the rest of the other few family members have all left the house Rothschild due to her father’s strict nature in discipline, even going as far as to disown the Rothschild name and went for a new identity of a noble to call their own. As to whether the remaining family members were still alive is another question, and Asriel herself was never interested in wanting to know of their whereabouts either, considering they left on their own out of the fear of her father’s cruel methods in family discipline. IV: Asriel and Oniko has a very close friendship since their early teenage years, as Oniko was the first ever female friend that Asriel can have any chance to socialize with, despite her rather sheltered lifestyle at her own castle. V: Despite the rather dark history of the original Rothschild family in 19th century, Asriel took pride on her actions of charity from time to time, donating billions of dollars to those that needed it. So far she has donated over 70 billion dollars across 600 charity campaigns, earning her the utmost respect from many countries that were starving for food and shelter, thanks to this, she also earned the trust of many government and political figures that were against war conflicts across the globe. VI: Asriel has exceptional organ and piano skills, with Moonlight Sonata and Toccata and Fugue BMV 565 as her favorite musical piece, as she always plays either one of these two songs to pass her time alone in her castle. Whoo...finally, the 2nd part of the first climax story~ :3
Monstrous chapter is monstrous. OVER 10,500 WORDS. xD
Chapter 8 – Escape (脱出)
As the silent night on the Tokyo city shatters by a loud deafening helicopter’s propeller sound, the rest of the PSE members all locked their eyes dead on towards Shinobu, whom has his helmet worn all the time as he waved casually towards the Hornet Zero, where Shinobu remained as calm as always, not showing any signs of fear. As the helmet-wearing driver turned his attention towards his friends, the rest of the other racers and audiences quickly panicked and ran on into their cars as they start the engines and escape from the parking lot.
“Welp, this is it, ladies.” Shinobu said with a relaxed tone as the cop interceptors from the PSE units started to close in.
“It’s time to run!” Setsuna exclaimed with a confident smile as they all hopped back towards their own cars and started the engines quickly. As they make their way out of the crowd, the police interceptors were confused as they were currently caught off guard by the overwhelming numbers of street racer cars currently on the run.
“The guys running ought to be a good scramble. Let’s use that to our advantage!” Rong Wei added as she quickly turns her steering wheel and slalomed her way from one racer car towards another, easily keeping her pace with Shinobu and the rest on their cars as they too were slaloming beautifully and avoiding obstacles and slower cars.
“After them!!” Tsubame quickly commanded as she stomp on the accelerator and made a 180 degree spin using her GT500 and blasted off from the spot, followed by the others doing the same. “Ignore the small fries, just knock down a few of those that are trying to stop you and keep your eyes peeled on the main targets!! If all four of them escaped, this operation will FAIL!” Tsubame continued on as the rest of her other members followed on another route, for obvious reasons of not wanting to be caught under the scramble on the current path where Shinobu and his partners are currently navigating through on.
“This is bad…there are more racers out there than we thought.” Jesse said as he steps on his accelerator in keeping up on his R35 GT-R interceptor. “It will be hard to capture them all at once…shall we split up and deal with them?” “No, if we break formation for now…they’d just box us in and did away with us before escaping. The racers aren’t that stupid here.” Dominic declined the suggestion as they continued forward on taking another route as it eventually led them back to the path where the racers are currently running away from, and on their GPS monitors, they can clearly see that the target indicators are flashing there, all four of them on where they’re currently heading to now, across the Yokohane Line downbound.
Right now, the Hornet Zero quickly made its way upwards the air as its searchlights remained locked dead towards the McLaren F1, which is currently now ahead of everyone else, followed closely by the Jaguar XKR-S, Porsche 911 GT3 and Audi R8 across Heiwajima. The Shelby GT500 quickly rammed over a few Honda Civics aside the road as soon as Tsubame noticed that they were street racers too, just to force her way inside the lane and close the gaps quickly, followed by the Dodge SRT10 Viper and finally the GT-R35 Spec V Interceptor. Behind the three PSE cars were another group of five Maserati Quattroporte Sport GT-S interceptor cars that were rolling down the streets at a very fast speed, easily overtaking a crowd of street racers that were escaping capture from the PSE.
“Hornet Zero, this is Hirano speaking, are you monitoring this?” Tsubame asked for confirmation as she stares as the helicopter above, while continuing the pursuit across the Yokohane Line. Her Shelby GT500 Interceptor is now chasing the cars ahead of her at the speed of 185 mph.
“This is Hornet Zero…we’ve set a roadblock of SUV interceptor ahead.” Hornet Zero immediately replied as the helicopter went far on after the McLaren F1’s position. As around a couple of kilometers ahead… there parked a great number of SUVs, obstructing the road ahead other than leaving barely a car’s space on the right side. “Break right within 1000 meters later on as you passed the Daishi Tollgates, all units under Officer Hirano’s command!” As the pilot turns his attention towards the other side of the GPS monitor, there were a few runaway racers that were still on their way towards the C1 area, splitting the pursuit into two paths. “Commander Minaka, how are things going over there for you?”
“This is Minaka.” Satoshi spoke through the radio as he continues on with his pursuit inside the Carrera GT Interceptor, followed by his NSX group from behind as they chase after Gao and the remaining two racers that Shinobu and his friends defeated. And from the looks of it, it seems the Honda CR-X is now boxed in by a square formation from all four directions as the NSX interceptors force the Honda car to pull over to the other side. “We are now under control of the situation in capturing the racers that may very well be confirmed to be associated with illegal societies and gangs related to Yakuza and eventually it’s only a matter of time before we apprehend the suspects.”
“SHIT!” The Honda CR-X driver snapped in frustration as he opened the windows, pointed his handgun towards one of the Honda NSX Interceptor and started shooting at it. As the bullet rounds flipped over the bulletproof glasses on the NSX, the driver inside immediately turn the steering towards the path of the CR-X, ramming the doors violently and shaking the driver off balance. “GOD DAMMIT!”
As the NSX started its counterattack, the other NSXs did the same by sandwiching the entire car in all four directions, boxing the driver completely and disabling it. As one of the passengers inside the NSX interceptor opened its window, the PSE member immediately open fire using his revolver and with a few rounds of succession, it finally hit the CR-X driver’s hand holding the steering wheels. The driver writhed in pain as blood started gushing out from his right hand. And not long after that, the four NSX interceptors remained their box formation and forced the Honda CR-X slowly to the other side of the highway road as they reached near the exit of Kasumigaseki Tunnel at C1 Outer area. Eventually all five cars came to a complete stop and the police officers immediately hopped out from the car and dragged the driver through the shattered window on the driver seat.
“This ought to put you out for a couple of minutes!” One officer said as he grabbed his revolver hard and knocked the driver’s rear neck with a sharp blow. The driver immediately fell unconscious and went out like a light. As he is unconscious, the officers immediately ceased the vehicle by puncturing the tires using their handguns and locked the steering wheel with a steering lock they brought along. After disabling the vehicles, they shut off the engine and confiscated the car keys, while a few more officers locked him in with a pair of arm bracelet chained together. It was a perfect racer bust, and with the driver of the Honda CR-X out of commission along with his vehicle, only a few more NSX cars remained on the pursuit on Satoshi’s side.
“Commander, we’ve busted the Honda CR-X driver and disabled his vehicle. Do you want any more support? I think we can handle with a few more officers here.” The PSE Officer that is currently holding the unconscious driver asked through the communicator as the other officers remained to keep the traffic cars going, preventing any traffic cars from slowing down too much and clogging the road’s cars from stalling entirely and causing a traffic jam eventually due to the commotion. Back to the pursuit of the remaining RX-8 and Evo VII, Satoshi is seen driving with his full concentration on the Porsche Carrera GT Interceptor as it slalomed through numerous traffic cars just to stay glued to the rear of the runaway cars.
“This is Minaka. Good work…just send one more as backup unit. Can you join up with me?” Satoshi asked through the communicator.
“I think unit no.3 can still make it somehow.” One of the PSE members said as he turn his attention towards two members overheard his transmission as they are already prepared for the order to move out and rendezvous with their commander. “Alright, we’re sending Unit No.3 towards your position!”
“Good, make sure the suspect in the Honda CR-X remained compromised.” Satoshi ordered as he continued his pursuit towards the RX-8. As his Carrera GT finally surpassed 190 mph in the speedometer, Satoshi immediately nudge this interceptor towards the RX-8’s rear, throwing it off balance and swerving around. As the rear tires of the rotary machine begins to slide after a momentarily lift thanks to the impact made by the cop vehicle, the RX-8 started to wobble violently.
“Shit! Such bump won’t throw me off!!” The RX-8 driver thought as he immediately recovers from the bump impact that was caused by the commander of the NSX Interceptors. The RX-8’s wobbling stopped and retained its pace, despite being slower now due to the driver being hesitant towards the accelerator pedal after the shock. “Dammit…I won’t get busted so easily!” As the RX-8 continued to accelerate from the Carrera GT while it’s still under very close behind the runaway driver, one of the NSX interceptors slipstreamed behind the Carrera GT as it continued to build up speed from the reduced air-pressure.
“Sir, I am right behind your slipstream range. Do give me the signal for slingshot, alright?” The NSX driver said as he remained focused behind the Porsche’s rear while maintained a stable slipstream motion. As the slipstream continues, the speedometer on the NSX is starting to build its speed up to over 300 km/h by now while the Carrera GT is over 200 mph.
“Alright…be sure to maintain your pace and don’t go too fast.” Satoshi replied as he continued his current footwork on the tail of the RX-8 and Evo VII. “Officer Hirano!” As the commander uttered Tsubame’s name, she was already on the edge of chasing down Rong Wei’s Audi R8 as her GT500 Shelby was just right behind the Quattro. “What is your situation there?”
“This is Hirano! I’ve almost got the Audi R8, the suspect is still showing strong signs of resisting arrest, but I am very close to the vehicle now.” Tsubame said as she continues to slam on the accelerator pedal while keeping a very tight lining on where Shinobu and his friends are running still at the later part of Yokohane Line downbound near the Daishi Tollgate. Beyond one kilometer there is the roadblock units set up waiting for the suspects to run over. It is now merely a matter of luck as to whether the roadblock attack will be successful or not.
“Understood, keep at it, Officer Hirano! We may just be able to make it through this time!” Satoshi said as he shuts off his communicator while maintain his pursuit at the runaway suspects on his side.
“Roger! Everyone, just around 1000 meters to go before the thing comes!” Tsubame said through her communicator as the GT500, Viper SRT10 and GTR35 Spec V along with every Maserati units pass through the tollbooths, which under incredible coincidence, the gates were all open at the same time so there were nothing broken as all cars zoomed through the narrow openings at extreme speed, shocking almost every tollbooth worker inside the tiny buildings. The McLaren F1 is still leading strong with the other Steel Rose Maiden members as they all slalomed through the traffic cars with ease under the speed exceeding 300 km/h.
“Damn, these guys are good…!” Jesse uttered as his hands were shaking slightly on the steering wheels, sweats starting to break from his forehead as he hardly blinks, fearing that he may lose focus somehow. As he continues to slalom his way through a number of traffic sedans, everything else was almost like a blur to him except for his own comrades’ cars and the suspects’ cars. “I could hardly even blink here…dammit! Who are those drivers…? That KARASU is a very refined driver too inside that machine…!”
“Whoever they are, they aren’t your typical drivers, that’s for sure…!” Dominic added, trying to keep on the pressure behind Lacia’s Porsche 911 GT3 RS too, as the black car was still running at a considerately fast pace, not slowing down at all, despite being pressured hard by the Dodge Viper SRT10. “And Hirano, watch yourself out there, don’t forget to break right within 500 meters more!”
“10-4!!” Tsubame responded quickly as she steered on towards to the right side of the highway road in Yokohane as all cars are now only 200 meters away from the huge roadblock SUVs parked ahead of them, obstructing almost the entire road, except leaving a car space on the rightmost lane. As Shinobu and his friends noticed the SUVs parked ahead, they immediately adjusted their positions without a word. Setsuna, Rong Wei, Lacia and Shinobu were all so focused that they could hardly even feel any sort of panic or negative emotions from the pressure building behind the PSE interceptors closing in on them.
“Maintain a 5 meter margin, everyone. You all know what to do.” Shinobu said through his communicator, while all agreed as they did everything in their ability to concentrate on their acceleration footwork while steer towards the rear position of the McLaren F1 and keep a straight line as long as possible as they all lined up together on a tight four-car straight formation towards the rightmost lane of the Yokohane Line. From behind, the PSE officer Tsubame could hardly imagine what she is watching as she chased them all. As the four cars were aligned together tightly, her GT500 had no other alternative but to retreat as Tsubame couldn’t risk the chances of involving traffic cars too with her stubborn blocking tactic. The strategy was playing well into Shinobu’s hands, despite it being nothing more than a basic dodging maneuver.
“Dammit…!’ Tsubame grunted as she readjusted her position behind the racers while entered a slipstream motion behind 4 cars aligned together. “All units, line up behind me! All those that are on the left, keep an aligned position to avoid roadblock units!”
“Yes, madam!” One of the Maserati interceptor driver said as they all swerved to the rightmost lane and slowly positioned themselves on a same position as Shinobu was leading, forming a rather colossal 12-car-straight-aligned formation! The Viper SRT10 and GTR-35 Spec V were so close positioned behind the GT500 Shelby Interceptor that the Viper almost grazed its front bumper behind the Ford’s rear. The Maserati Quattroporte Sport GT S’s 5 car formation maintained as tight as possible as the drivers inside maintained a strong focus behind the leading cars on the front.
As all twelve cars dashed through the roadblock units where the SUVs were parked there, the PSE cops were all in disbelief as all of those cars just weaved through the gap across Yokohane Line. Clearly, Shinobu and the rest of the Steel Rose Maidens weren’t fazed by the roadblock units at all as they maintained their free formation after dodging the roadblock. They immediately break formation and slalomed through traffic cars while remained on their respective lanes. Everything was done with precision timing.
“Whew! We managed to break through it.” Setsuna sighed a bit as she remained focused still, not wanting to lose her momentum on the pursuit.
“We’re still not quite done yet. Follow me. I think there should be another way out here that can lead us to safety without crossing all the way back to Wangan Line from this point.” Shinobu suggested as his McLaren F1 remained on the leading position from the pursuit. The rest of the cars followed on, maintaining a mere 10 meters gap between each other.
“Attention, are you monitoring this, Hornet Zero?” Tsubame immediately reported after the failed attempt of the roadblock on Yokohane Line Downbound. “The suspects have broken through the roadblock unit. We may need backup units; the racers appear to be highly skilled.” Tsubame ended her report shortly as she didn’t want to lose her focus on the suspects. Both Dominic and Jesse were literally struggling in maintaining their cars’ speed to keep up with Tsubame’s Shelby.
“This is Hornet Zero.” The pilot reported back hurriedly. “We’re recording all of this, better luck next time, roadblock units. Continue support, all units…and Officer Hirano, maintain pursuit! Over.” As the pilot finishes his report, the McLaren F1 was still leading strong with the three other cars following closely behind, while Tsubame continues to chase after the four suspects, despite everything that has happened.
“Dammit…at this rate, we won’t be able to chase them any further…!” Tsubame uttered as she continues to step on her accelerator pedal, despite her being fully aware that it is already starting to undue stress towards the engine running at its maximum power for such a long time through the Yokohane Line. As they continued to blast their cars through the roads, they were already passing all the way through the Hamakawasaki area. And sooner they will arrive at the right curve that connects them eventually to the Wangan Eastbound. “We’re certainly at a disadvantage here…racing against a freakin’ McLaren F1, Jaguar XKR-S, Audi R8 and a freakin GT3 RS of all things…Dominic, Jesse, how are your cars doing?”
“Engine and oil pressure is heating up a bit, but I am still good to go.” Dominic replied as he took a short glimpse on his gauges towards the Viper SRT10. The speedometer indicating that he is already cruising at a speed of over 180 mp/h. “The car’s heating up steadily here, but I am still good. The tires may still have enough grip to just get us through Wangan Eastbound at least if they’re continuing like this.” Jesse added as he paid attention to his car’s temperature and it’s indicating a needle pointing close to the red zone, which is a sign of his car starting to heat up on excessive run at high speed. “We just need to maintain our pace from here onwards. Don’t need to rush; their cars should be having the same problems too.”
As the cars continued to charge straight ahead towards the oncoming curve near the end of Yokohane Line, the Audi R8 started to releasing a continuous disruptive jamming wave, surrounding the escaping cars altogether, while inside the interceptor cars, their GPS monitors were literally going blur, and eventually some of them finally turned blank and went offline, disrupting even their communication lines on the communicators.
“Dammit…all units…can you hear me?” Tsubame asked as she tries to restore communication link by resetting the machine, but to no avail as the GPS monitor no longer shows any signal. “Shit, it’s dead…guess we’ll have to rely on our own eyes for now.”
“Crap, the line’s dead…” Dominic also uttered the same though inside his Dodge Viper SRT10, as his GPS monitor has already blacked out long ago with a red light, indicating unstable connection while the machine remained turned on. “Jamming interference…”
“It must be from the Audi R8’s jamming device based on the briefing report…damn that car’s jammer system!” Jesse thought as he too continued his efforts of the pursuit while maintaining the communication systems on and hoping the jammer will eventually time out from its activation period. “Guess we’ll just have to bear with this. There should be a period of time for that jammer to stay active like that.” The Maserati group remained unfazed and maintained their tight formation of five cars while slaloming through traffic cars easily at over 170 mp/h speed. Despite the jamming, they can still keep a close eye on the suspects running. Finally, after a period of the continued pursuit in between two sides, Tsubame switched on her EMP Burst system as the device equipped inside her GT500 started up and a laser pointer locked the cursor dead on to the viridian Audi R8.
“Oh no…they’ve got a bead on me.” Rong Wei uttered as her own GPS monitor indicates that there is a strong electromagnetic reading from her car’s rear as well as the Shelby GT500, which is now merely 7 meters from where she is. “Could be an EMP burst…Lacia, can you help shake that Mustang off my tail?”
“…understood…” Lacia obeyed as she adjusted her current position while slalomed through a bus, followed by two propane-filled tank trucks and several more traffic cars and taxis. As she slowly decelerated by feathering with her accelerator pedal, her Porsche GT3 RS is now side by side with Tsubame’s GT500. Her own GPS monitor indicates that she is currently loading up the system engagement for an EMP Burst of her own as well. “Please make it in time…” Lacia thought as she remained calm and focused while locking her eyes dead on to the PSE interceptors.
“Keep your distance from Lacia, everyone…!” Setsuna warned as she started to accelerate even more and caught up to the McLaren F1, where both of them are now 20 meters ahead of where Lacia is, followed closely by Rong Wei’s Audi R8 with her jammer system still running. As soon as all the preparations for the counterattack were already set and ready for execution, Tsubame and others have also taken desperate measures as all PSE units finally drew out their weapons and opened their cars’ windows, including Tsubame with her .44 magnum revolver lock and loaded, while her GT500 is still locking its EMP on the Audi R8.
“Watch out, I can see those guys pointing guns at us now…!” Shinobu warned as he took a split second of time to peek at the rear mirrors. While still concentrating on his driving at the staggering speed of 200 mp/h now, he has decided to decelerate a little to make sure that he didn’t stray too far from his friends. While he reaches to a fairly long straight, he draws out one of his ACP .45 Hardballer Longslide handguns and points it on the PSE’s side with the mirror opened. His rear mirror was coincidentally angled at a right position to give him the sight he needs to get a good aim without Shinobu looking at behind himself.
“NOW!!” Tsubame exclaimed as she started opening fire as soon as the GT500 and Lacia’s Porsche 911 GT3 RS both simultaneously released their EMP burst, while the bullets didn’t hit Lacia, but it did pierce through the reinforced tektite glass and the magnum bullet grazed through Lacia’s left cheeks as she ducks the bullet from a direct hit right through her skull. As soon as that happened, it triggers a chain reaction as the EMP burst wave hits not just the Shelby GT500, but also the Viper SRT10 and two Maserati interceptors from behind. The R35-Spec V interceptor along with the remaining three Maseratis was unscathed as the EMP wave didn’t reach them on whey they are driving. The Shelby GT500 couldn’t even finish its lock on the Audi R8 and the system is now overloaded with the EMP wave interference which eventually causes a data overload.
At the same time, Shinobu pulled the trigger on his handgun and fired two shots, each bullet reaching to the tires of the Viper SRT10 as it ripped a hole on both of the front tires, puncturing it and literally crippling it.
“Oh shit!” Dominic grunted as he tried to maintain his currently out-of-control Viper SRT10 as it is now starting to wobble wildly after being hit by the EMP wave from Lacia’s Porsche 911. Even the wailing of his car’s siren have gone haywire as it ceased function after the sound from the speaker went completely out of tone, and smokes are gushing out from the car literally on the fried electronic systems of the Viper. He was losing speed, as soon as he noticed that the gauges are all stalling down after a few seconds from the impact on the EMP wave. His speedometer is now showing that his car is running at 140 mp/h and it is still stalling severely.
“Hirano, I am down…sorry, I am pulling over!” Dominic finishes his talk, regardless of whether the communicator is still jammed or not as he pulled out his shotgun and started shooting at Lacia’s 911 GT3. The shotgun shells hit the rear mirrors, but were deflected and it only left a number of visible dents on the glass, as the range shot from the Viper was rather far away as the interceptor is already falling behind over 40 meters and increasing. “Shit…now that didn’t work…guess I’ve no choice…and I got failed tires too…damn that guy’s got good aim.”
“Dammit…Dominic…! Is he down?” Tsubame thought as she too slowed down a little as she realize there is little point in continuing the pursuit now that she too has been hit by an EMP wave from Lacia’s Porsche, a direct hit even. As Tsubame pulled over slightly on to the left lane after being stalled by the EMP burst, the other Maseratis that were unscathed continued to her aid as they surround the GT500 as it continued to stall even further. “Tch…that’s one nasty EMP burst...that Porsche…she’s got some guts there…charging in like that!”
“Ugh…” Lacia grunted quietly as blood started to trail down her pale cheeks. But she was hardly fazed as she has no intention of losing her momentum from one mere gunshot that nearly took her head off. She continued to floor on the accelerator even more, knowing that now her life can be in danger at anytime, including her friends’ too. Disregarding any further injuries, she did not even wipe the blood that is already trailing down her lips. Her expression was still stoic, but somewhat tense and she’s breaking cold sweat on her forehead. “…Rong Wei…are…you…alright…?”
“Yes, I am fine…thanks. But are you hurt? You got shot back there.” Rong Wei asked, feeling worried as she draws her attention towards the Porsche 911 where one of the mirrors on the car was punched a hole by the missed bullet.
“…I am…hurt…but…I’ll be…fine…” Lacia said, as she continued on to catch up to Shinobu’s McLaren F1 and the Jaguar XKR-S. They were close to entering the left curve of the Yokohane Line’s end, and the remaining Maseratis continued their pursuit, followed closely by the Hornet Zero chopper.
“Dammit…we still haven’t completely lost them…” Setsuna thought as she deepened her pressure on the accelerator pedal and not holding back still, as soon as the helicopter caught up to her front, and overtaking Shinobu in the air, the chopper started to load up a small minigun at the front lip of the aircraft itself, aiming dead on towards Shinobu’s McLaren F1. “Watch out, Shinobu! That chopper’s got a f**king minigun pointed at you.”
“They sure don’t know when to quit, do they?” Shinobu chuckled as he pressed on the accelerator further, as the McLaren F1 slowly got back to the position of trying to overtaking the helicopter while getting out of range on the weapon pointed at him; he pressed on a few buttons on the GPS monitor and activates the EMP system on his car. Not long after the laser pointer inside his machine aimed its red-light cursor at the bottom of the chopper and started loading up the data for the counterattack. “Hang on, ladies…this won’t take long.”
“Another EMP burst…? This could be a big one...! Lacia, Rong Wei! Hurry up!” Setsuna exclaimed, knowing what will happen if they get caught at the critical moment like this while Shinobu is preparing for a last counter move. Both of them could listen Setsuna’s voice just fine and as soon as they caught up from the remaining Maserati cars catching them from behind, followed by the R35 Interceptor which is now travelling at a very high speed in catching up. “Shit, that GTR is still on the move!!”
“You won’t get away from us that easily…!” Jesse thought aloud as he stomped on the accelerator still, now no longer caring for the consequences of what dangers lie ahead from an attempt. Seeing as how his comrades were already disabled, he knew he had to take desperate measures or their mission will fail. He quickly load his own handgun and started shooting at Rong Wei’s Audi R8. As he started firing, the Audi R8 quickly weaved by a few shots while the other few more rounds hit the rear trunk of the car with repeated succession. “Dammit, they’re still holding up until now!” Jesse fired one more shot from his weapon and the bullet landed directly on the Audi R8’s left rear tire, puncturing it by making a small hole, but that was more than enough to stall the car down by a degree.
“…shit!” Rong Wei thought, realizing that one of the tires on her machine have been shot and she’s literally crippled partially. “…at a critical moment like this…!!” Rong Wei can only hold on to her accelerator at this point, as she realize that if she let go off the gas pedal under such state, the speed loss will be severe as she is running on only three tires.
“…Rong Wei…!!” Lacia cried out her friend’s name as she watches the Audi R8 slowed down even though it is running at full throttle still. “Hurry up, Shinobu!! Rong Wei’s hit on the tires!” Setsuna pleaded under slight desperation. She knows that panicking now would only make things worse, but it is only a matter of time before they all get captured due to one of their friends being dragged behind slightly, and it will affect the entire team’s escape efforts, should they stall any further. The PSE have already made their desperate move count and the tension is about to reach its peak.
“Alright...sorry, cops…no hard feelings!” Shinobu pressed on the red button on his GPS monitor and it activates the EMP system inside the McLaren F1, as it sends a huge shockwave towards the Hornet Zero chopper before it can lock a target on either one of the Steel Rose Maidens’ cars, the system overload damage was already done as the helicopter got thrown off balance by the electronic controls frying up from the EMP burst. Most of the internal control system mechanisms were overheated from the data overload as the chopper started to twirl its body and the momentum builds from the out-of-control motion. “Let’s just pray that the chopper wouldn’t hit face first on the cockpit.”
Shinobu watched as the twirling helicopter swirled out of their way and made it elsewhere on to the land. The civilians and walking pedestrians on some of the higher-level buildings nearby watched in horror as the helicopter twirls around wildly and slowly made its way through a river nearby. There were also some ferries sailing out there, and the sailors along with the passengers watched the machine twirling out of control until it eventually reaches the surface of the water.
“Hornet Zero!!” Tsubame called out on the pilot as the chopper crashed directly on the water, making a huge splash and eventually the propeller stopped spinning after stalling while hitting the river water constantly. As the crashed remains of the Hornet Zero started shooting out electrical sparks from broken parts, the damaged fuel tanks lit up from a spark contact, causing an ignition and sets off a chain reaction; as the Hornet Zero vanished into a brilliant ball of orange flames, literally shocking every civilian watching helplessly on the destroyed helicopter. “Dammit!!”
But as soon as the flames subside, a small figure was seen floating above the river and he is swimming across a boat nearby. It was the pilot of the helicopter of Hornet Zero, while he managed to survive, his left arm was badly injured as it was bleeding from several injuries on the wreckage of the helicopter before it burst into flames. He struggled on to the boat nearby as sailors recognized him immediately as the pilot and started to assist him on reaching the boat’s surface.
“Man, that was lucky! Are you alright, sir?” One of the sailors asked as the pilot slowly took off his helmet, which was soaking with water and breathed heavily to recover himself from the exhaustion and lack of oxygen. He was even holding his breath that time, seeing as his removed helmet has a huge hole punched on the rear when a debris pierced through the helmet while not deep enough to penetrate his skull, fortunately. The pilot coughed out some water that was swallowed by accident while regained his consciousness, still breathing heavily. “You’re bleeding…shall I call the ambulance?” Another sailor asked, while the passengers all murmured worriedly at the pilot’s injured arm.
“Don’t worry…I’ll be fine. But do call the ambulance, please stop the bleeding for me…” The pilot panted but his voice was still clear enough to be heard as one sailor quickly ran to the emergency room while the pilot struggled to reach his pocket using his right arm, and eventually he grabbed a cell phone and tried to contact someone. “…hello, Officer Hirano…?”
“Hornet Zero, are you alright?!” Tsubame asked as the call was immediately answered through her monitor. “Are you hurt?! Shall we continue on with the pursuit?”
“…that’s not advisable…” The pilot panted while holding his phone as his left arm is now being treated on, with his body already lying down on an orange stretcher. “My chopper’s thrashed…and your car’s disabled too, no? We’ve failed to capture KARASU and his members…that objective is a failure now…tell your members not to engage them suspects any further…we’ve been compromised. I will give out orders on what to do later on to Commander Minaka’s side. So you just need to remain on standby until then.”
“…understood…all units! Pull over!” Tsubame ordered after listening to the advice from the pilot as she pull over to the other side of the road, slowly reducing the speed of her GT500 and eventually came to a dead stop, followed by the R35 Spec-V and Viper SRT10, the rest of the Maserati interceptors all followed as they parked to the rightmost area, leaving as little space of obstruction to the highway road as possible without blocking any more unnecessary lanes. As the officers all got out from their vehicles, they look at Tsubame with troubled faces, as the GT500 is starting to gush out smokes from the front hood. “Sorry, everyone…I’ve failed you guys.”
“No…you don’t have to…Officer Hirano.” One of the Maserati team members said, scratching his head on the back. “So what do we do now…? We lost our targets and we lost a few of our car units too…assisting Commander Minaka’s team may be impossible under these conditions.”
“We’d just have to trust Commander Minaka and his subordinates on this one…” Dominic added as he stared at the smokes that gushed out from faraway area where the Hornet Zero is still burning after the crash, his expression was cold and he somehow felt defeated, he clears his throat and starts speaking again. “I believe Chief have a backup plan for the other company that we may need alive…Commander Minaka will be fine.”
“Well…I sure hope so…let’s remain on standby until then. We’re in no condition to continue pursuit anyway after coming this far with such a disastrous outcome.” Jesse suggested as he wiped the sweat off his forehead while leaned on the R35 interceptor. All of them gazed on the lights of the buildings across the Tokyo area, while the night is embraced by the deafening sounds of more engine roars on the other side of the road.
“Mission failed huh…?” Jesse thought quietly as he tightened his grip on the hand holding the car key of the GTR Spec V. On the other hand, the McLaren F1, Porsche 911 GT3 RS, Jaguar XKR-S and the Audi R8 5.2 FSI have all disappeared on the highway roads far ahead since the success of counterattack on the Hornet Zero. There were no traces of them found on anywhere, except for a few slightly blackened tire track trails left on the road.
Meanwhile, as the other pursuit goes on, it was seen that only two cars remained on the other side of the commotion, as Gao’s Evo VII and Satoshi’s Porsche Carrera GT went down to a one-on-one bout across the Shinkanjyo area at clockwise. The Evo VII was slaloming as fast as it can while the Carerra GT was not slowing down one bit at all. As Gao loaded his handgun with another magazine of bullets, he started shooting at the car behind. The bullets missed Satoshi’s car by a few centimeters, while the PSE commander continued its pressure on the Evo VII. “This is Commander Minaka.” Satoshi reported while avoiding the line of fire range from the Evo VII, slowly slipstreaming behind the escaping vehicle. “The NSX team have successfully mopped down the escaped RX-8 and is currently suppressing the suspects of the race events, now it’s only the Evo VII left with me alone. Requesting backup, over.”
From far away, as the report from the commander ends, there stood a company of BMW M3 interceptor cars with their police warning lights turned on and sirens were all wailing. And right behind the BMWs, there stood an Aston Martin One-77 waiting with the driver on standby. The officer inside the Aston Martin was a man with a brown jacket. His outfit as a few police badges with an insignia of an elite commander position, he has darkish brown hair and brown eyes. He also has a beard grown around his chins and wears dark amber colored sunglasses.
“…This is Commander Hasimoto, roger that…maintain your current slipstream position.” The driver of the One-77 said as he clicks on the GPS monitor indicating that around the Kiba area of the Shinkanjyo, a police interceptor is charging in fast with a suspect car indicating an Evo VII from 2 kilometers away. “I will support you as soon as you made pass my units. Break right within 1800 meters.”
“Understood, Hasimoto.” As soon as the Porsche Carerra GT exceeded 190 mp/h while slipstreaming behind the Evo VII, Satoshi stomped on the accelerator and gave the rear bumper of the Lancer Evolution one powerful shunt, knocking the car off balance for a short moment while keeping a distance after it started to wobble from the attack. Satoshi turned on the speakers on his Interceptor as soon as Gao struggled on to stabilize the Evo VII again. “PUBLIC SPEED ENFORCERS! Stop the vehicle, now!”
“Dammit…not like this…” Gao thought as he panicked, right at the moment when he realize that he was completely cornered, as there are now six BMW M3s with sirens wailing waiting for him to cross over, while not noticing the One-77, strangely enough… “I gotta break through these bastards or it’s all over…! I can’t let these guys catch me like this!”
“Target in sight…all units, engage.” Matsuo Hasimoto, the commander of the BMW M3 team finally initiated his orders and the interceptors begin to blast out from their positions and charge towards the Evo VII as soon as it passed through the One-77 at a very fast speed. The rest of the M3 company followed quickly as soon as the Carrera GT dashed right pass the cars. The One-77 immediately caught up right behind the Carrera GT and started to slipstream behind it while the Evo VII is running out of options. “That suspect may still have some tricks up his sleeve. Be cautious, all units. You too, Minaka.”
“I got it already, you watch yourself too, Hasimoto!” Satoshi said as he purposely opened up a space to allow the One-77 to slingshot his way towards the Evo VII, while he used the slipstream efforts to do a slingshot overtake himself, boxing in the Evo VII while the BMW M3 interceptors all made their way and formed a circular formation around the Kiba’s end at Shinkanjyo. While Gao is trying to reach for his handgun once more and pointed it towards one of the M3 interceptors closing in on the right side, before he can open fire, a flurry of gunshot can be heard as Gao’s right arm felt an almost instant pain, while his right hand is now ventilated with bullets from Matsuo holding a Kel-tec KGS12, while driving momentarily without holding the steering wheel. Despite that, his One-77 seemed to be as stable as it was even while travelling at over 180 mp/h.
“Give it up, Gao…you’re done.” Matsuo thought calmly as he put away his weapon and grabbed the steering wheels again as a gentle curve came ahead towards them around the Shinkanjyo route. The Evo VII was now slowing down and its speed continued to decrease, as the driver himself can barely drive with his right arm injured from the gun. As soon as the Evo VII starts to stall to a point where it can no longer accelerate, Matsuo let out the final order. “All units…lock him in.” As soon as the order was issued, the M3 interceptors all boxed the Evo VII and forced it towards the an emergency parking spot on the road near the path where the Ferris Wheel can be seen across the night of Wangan Line westbound. The Evo VII was completely stopped by the M3s as the members all rushed out with Glocks on their hands, and as soon as they managed to get to the Evo VII’s doors, they opened the driver’s door and drag Gao’s bloodied body out. He was panting and still tried to resist by kicking and shaking off the PSE members that tried to suppress him.
“Gah…! Get off me, you scums! You can’t stop me…! You can’t—“ before Gao can finish his sentence, a loud thud can be heard and Matsuo is seen from Gao’s rear, knocking him out of consciousness by a sharp blow from his handchop right at the back of Gao’s neck as he fell to the ground motionless. The PSE cops all immediately lock his arms up and tied his legs while relieving him from any guns or dangerous weapons that he might be carrying. As Matsuo took out his cellphone, the car keys on the Evo VII was already taken out and confiscated by Satoshi, standing besides Matsuo.
“Good work…Minaka. We got em’ all.” Matsuo said as he waited for the cellphone to connect. Satoshi can only ponder about what will happen next as he took out a tobacco from his pocket and light it up after letting out a big sigh. “It’s a shame that we lost KARASU and his gang though…”
“Yeah…sorry that I dragged you into this.” Satoshi apologized as he let out another breath of smoke after taking a deep puff. “These punks sure had us running wild tonight…having to force us to separate like that…good thing no civilians were involved tonight…”
“Don’t relax just yet…our problems may not even begun yet from tonight’s disruptions…” As Matsuo said these words, his cellphone finally connected. “This is Commander Hasimoto reporting in, Chief. We’ve managed to apprehend most of the suspects that were involved in the C1 race event, but we have failed to locate KARASU and his members. It would appear that Officer Hirano’s team along with Hornet Zero has been compromised by KARASU and his team members’ powerful EMP weaponries and efficient jamming mechanisms, just like the intelligence said…but apparently Officer Hirano and the others were still caught off guard by it.” “Understood…return to HQ immediately. Bring the apprehended suspects in for processing and standby for your next sortie.” The Chief commanded through the cellphone as the night started to lit up again with midnight pyro from somewhere nearby, momentarily flashing the entire highway road of Shinkanjyo with colorful fireworks. “Our objective is cleared, but our mission on KARASU’s capture is a failure…we’ll have to write a full-report to the PSC after this…I sure hope you are all best prepared for the worst.”
“What do you mean…Chief…?” Matsuo asked casually, but his voice is still serious enough.
“…we may have a surprising honored guest to share some thoughts about what we should do next.”
----------------------------------------------------
The date was 5th June, 2012, the day after KARASU’s escape…as the screen of the giant monitor located in one of the few large buildings showcasing the usual advertisements starts to flick for a moment and switched to a channel broadcasting for the latest news with a “LIVE” text indicating on the upper left screen, a woman is seen sitting on a chair and wearing a common suit in the style of a usual news reporter.
“Good evening, this is Minami Jun reporting for your latest news update. Today’s headline involves the recent events of illegal street racing activities that have been spotted on Tokyo Area that took place around past 12 midnight since yesterday, involving over 30 people whom are believed to be racer or automobile fanatics as they were all illegally closing roads from many public routes, using fake road signs around the area to prevent any traffic cars from crossing. The safety of public traffic has clearly been shaken by this recent event that may have connection with illegal gang members that were strongly believed to be associated with the Yakuza Racing League, which has been active since 2 years.”
As the reporter Jun continued her report, the vacant space on the monitor screening reveals another window which shows the pictures of a few familiar figures, one of them being a helmet-wearing man that is seen waving at the helicopter Hornet Zero.
“These are the listed suspects of the individuals involved on the event last night, and apparently some of them were the actually wanted street-racers that were charged for extreme speeding throughout the highway over the years, one of them being the most recently highlighted mysterious driver that wears a black helmet, nicknamed KARASU. So far there were no further details regarding about this cryptic individual daredevil driver that has been the main cause of the massive traffic jam at the Wangan Line area during his first appearance on a scene that was involved on a harbor near Yokohama. The failed attempts to apprehend this suspect along with the other 3 escaped racers that are associated with him has been quite a concerning topic amongst the Public Security Committee officials and they have apparently summoned the Public Speed Enforcers for questioning and we are now broadcasting LIVE on their discussion, along with an unnamed honored guest awaiting.”
As Jun finishes her report, the screen immediately maximize itself on a full-screen mode with a channel above a ceiling angle, revealing a huge council table on a red and gold-striped blanket, where there are countless cameramen surrounding the large table that was occupied fully by official figures of both PSE and PSC insignia, middle-aged and mature-aged figures, men and women were all together with their name plates on their own respective spots. The cameramen doing the live recording near the table kept their distances as they were not allowed to go anywhere near the figures when they are discussing something publicly. The atmosphere were tense, as they were discussing something that was open for public, while it is also regarding the fact that this topic was intentional to be public for a special reason that will soon be told by the public safety councils of both sides.
As soon as the PSC members all gazed upon the exceptional officers from PSE walked towards the table and stand behind the PSE officials, including the chief himself, Naze; Tsubame’s expression was beamed towards the PSC members, same goes for her other members, Jesse, Dominic, and Satoshi along with Matsuo. They were all glaring seriously at the council table, not speaking a word as the cameramen and reporters from outside the hall continued taking pictures from every angle. Amongst all the chair taken by the officials, there seemed to be one more missing on the center of the table, which mostly will believe it was reserved for today’s guest of honor’s. The reserved chair was almost like that of a royal-design as it has black ornate design on the arms and a blood-red cushion, similar to those used by the nobles with great wealth.
And beyond the crowd, there is a large closed door as further access from cameramen at this point is prohibited. But outside the building where the meeting is held, there soon appears a silver-white car parked on the main entrance of the building itself, while the crowd is clearing open, seeing as obviously someone important is making a late entrance. It was a hypercar that holds the metallic shiny plates of its name – Pagani.
“Whoa…is that…the Pagani Huayra…?” One of the reporters said as his expression shows that he was amazed by the car’s presence and as soon as the car opened its doors, the red carpet path on the center begin to clear up as the cameramen load up their digital cameras and started to take pictures of the person inside the car. And little do they know, that the Huayra’s body has a small special-shaped insignia. It was shaped in a rose crest with multiple tribal-wings-like markings and was surrounded by cryptic scribbles that happen to be some sort of ancient language that almost seemed incomprehensible and hardly legible. It was later on one of the reporters managed noticed the crest and he was shocked.
“That insignia…it’s her…!” He said as the figures walked out from the car. One of them were dressed in violet clothing, while wearing a blue skirt and turtleneck collar above her purple shirt. She also wears a yellow headband that seemed to be worn by that of a servant of some sort. She also wears a pair of brown-leather boots, which seemed rather odd for someone like her that seemed to be in a servant position. She has blackish maroon hair that grows all the way to her waist, and has green eyes with slight fair skin. As she stood aside the passenger door opened, another person stepped out from the car slowly.
“Looks like we’re late by 30 seconds…let’s hurry, Eris.” Another person spoke as she reveals herself to be a woman with hair of black. As soon as she stood out from the Huayra, she walked in a slightly fast pace while her servant, Eris followed from behind. The news reporters and cameramen immediately recognized who she was and they start taking countless camera shots as the entire area got showered by constant light flashings from many cameras, but apparently the black-haired noble doesn’t seem to be fazed by the cameras at all as she hardly blinks.
The noble was a mildly tall lady with pale skin and amber eyes, she also has a red rose hairpin on the left side of her head as she was dressed in black with red ends on most of her clothing, while wearing a pair of navy-blue boots with red-rose decorations and metal plates. The left side of her black shawl has a red rose pattern as she is also wearing an amber-amulet on the center of the shawl. At the rear of her shawl she seemed to wear another piece of triangular-shaped short cloak that has the same crest of the Pagani Huayra’s. As she brushed her hair aside, she opened the large door with force strong enough that the sounds of the door slamming opened echoes throughout the entire hall inside the building, literally startling everyone, except for a few PSE officers, including the unfazed Chief Naze.
“Good afternoon, gentlemen. My apologies for being late by 42 seconds.” The noble spoke with such voice that it continued to echo through the hall once again, literally startling the PSC officials with her presence. “The public discussion can now commence.”
As the black noble slowly walked towards the council table, Eris closed the door immediately as she followed the noble afterwards. All eyes were locked directly towards her, including those cameramen and reporters that managed to gain access inside the hall itself too. Strangely enough, they were murmuring originally before she arrives, and now the entire building is as quiet as an abandoned hall itself, not a single voice from any men were heard, Tsubame and the rest of the PSE members were all locked towards the noble too. Her expression was as cold as ice, as her eyes weren’t even looking at any of the officials sitting on the council table as she make her way towards the chair in front. As Eris moved the ornate black chair behind for her to sit on, the PSC officers all clear their throats , as some are seen sweating on their necks.
“It is truly an honor to have you join us, Countess Rothschild. Now, without further ado—“ Before one of the younger PSC officer can start his sentence, the noble immediately stopped him by a loud finger snap, and it was so loud that the whole hall felt as if a pop firework just went off.
“Pardon me for interfering, but allow me to do the introduction for myself.” As the countess stood up once more from her chair, everyone went silent and focused solely on her, including all those that were recording; their cameras were all locked dead on her face.
“My name is Asriel Chello van Cugnot Rothschild. By all means, do keep the formality to a minimum, as I am not accustomed to people addressing me by my family name. My servants have provided me a summary of what I need to know and I believe this is concerning the issues that both PSC and PSE have been facing recently against the Yakuza Racing League as well as other groups that are associated with this organization. I also believe I am summoned here by all of you to not just have a share of my thoughts on this, but to also request assistance from my experience, yes?” Asriel introduced herself and asked the council together of what they were going to discuss today with the public watching. As she finished her question, the hall was completely silent, as most of them were too afraid to even speak casually now.
“Yes…it is a pleasure to have you join us today, Countess. Now please be seated.” Naze was unfazed by her strict voice too, but it seems they were on equal terms, as the countess herself broke out a slight smile after hearing the old man said it with a straight face. “Recent events regarding the appearance of KARASU with his involvement of the theft on the unknown package near the Yokohama Area has lead to many questions arise, which brings us into the matter of investigation towards the mysterious Yakuza Racing League that has been active for the past 2 and a half years. What are your thoughts on the recent involvement with KARASU on the Yakuza that was lead by Sato Kazuto, our currently most wanted criminal in Japan, Countess?”
“I have heard about it.” Asriel replied calmly, with her crossed hands covering her mouth in the view of everyone else. “Sato Kazuto’s recent activities relying on third parties as well as a few of his own men have been quite suspicious, as we have no clue of what their objectives are, nor do we find any significant intelligence that has any connections with their purposes. Other than acknowledging they are criminals under the mask of street racers undergoing global-scale drug-dealings and illegal weapon trades from around the world; we do not know their true intentions yet.” “As for the recent activities from KARASU and the Steel Rose Maidens…I can only say that it’s natural that the PSE members failed to apprehend them.” Asriel’s remarks on the PSE startled mostly every PSE officials, except for Naze. Tsubame was startled too, but she decides to swallow it, knowing that it’s true that she had failed to capture KARASU, not once but twice…
“The PSE members keep charging ahead on KARASU, not knowing what to expect from him nor do they have enough information on being prepared for any unexpected development from the Steel Rose Maidens. Repairs on public will take place as usual under PSC and my funding, but it is up to the PSE to maintain precautions towards any further development on both the Yakuza Racing League and Steel Rose Maidens, where KARASU is currently either one of these groups, that we do not know yet. But it won’t matter, seeing as they both are connected and obviously collaborated with each other on a fair amount of time.
Chasing either Steel Rose Maidens or the Yakuza Racing League, you’re also fulfilling your main objective…that much I can say. For PSC, your duty will be the usual, to maintain your funding efforts on PSE’s equipments and interceptors to make sure they are fully prepared for the next encounter.”
“But, Countess…how can we keep going on like this?!” One of the PSC members said with a worried voice, his hands are now clenched. “We have already used over 30% of our entire PSC funds to pay these people for their equipments and cars yet they STILL CANNOT apprehend the most recent suspects required for investigation on these meddlesome ruffians! We cannot keep funding them like this or we won’t have enough money for the public road!”
“Have you forgotten that I am the one funding most of the public road efforts?” Asriel retaliated calmly. “You just have to believe in the PSE’s efforts. I have faith in them, they make mistakes and it’s only natural to face failures. But seeing as the stakes now are quite high with civilians being at risk of the Yakuza, I do believe it’s now time for me to lend a hand for assistance too on PSE’s part…” as Asriel finishes her speech, a tea table is immediately present besides her with Eris holding it. Much to the PSE officers’ surprise, they do not see her moving at all.
“What the…? Since when did she…!” Tsubame thought, her eyes peeled at Eris before turning back to Asriel once more. As Eris poured some milk tea into a small cup, she handed it over to her master slowly.
“So…what do you propose, Countess…?” Hamilton, one of the other PSC officers asked calmly. “Do you have any other supports for this…?”
“For now…I will be providing extra efforts on the development efforts on the Interceptors for the PSE, so you officers from PSC can relax for now on the funding part. These are what I have in mind…” As Asriel snaps a finger, Eris took out a small memory chip and gave it to Asriel. Apparently it was a chip holding 8 gigabytes of information and can only be applied to sophisticated laptops or computers for its tiny size.
“W-what is that…?” A curious PSE member asked.
“A data chip from my personal development team SIGMA. The data in this chip will be the lists of equipments and cars used for the PSE’s next sortie in confronting the Yakuza Racing League and Steel Rose Maidens. I do believe that you all here can keep some secrets, so I have locked down some of the data inside with password protection. I will soon send you the password as soon as this public meeting is finished.” Asriel said as she took a sip of milk tea from the cup, as she slides the data chip directly towards Naze’s position, and eventually caught by the chief’s hand.
“Also, I have received the latest information regarding about one of the associated weapon development organizations named Adler that was believed to be collaborating with the Yakuza. Apparently Kazuto has made a few contacts personally with the owner of the organization itself; Gabriel Adler. Do take a look at these pictures as they are taken from the spies I send out for an investigation. The most recent meeting of them took place in the same time when KARASU was under pursuit from the PSE group.” As soon as Asriel is done speaking, Eris took out an envelope from the bottom of the tea table and opened it with a knife, eventually handing the pictures over to the center of the council table. They were large enough to be seen by everyone, despite being placed on a fair distance. The pictures clearly shows the face of Kazuto being together with another brown-haired man that was wearing suit and he wears silver sunglasses as well as a green coat outside. They were seen shaking hands on the entrance gate of a building that seems to have an insignia of some sort on the side of the gate…
“That’s Gabriel Adler himself…” Asriel took another sip of tea as she continued her explanation. “I believe you all have the previous records and dissertations of this man’s activities back when he was still a salesman…he has a course of history on secret cocaine and heroin drug-dealings back in 2 years ago, when the Yakuza organization was still establishing the Racing League branch. It was not long after that money he received constantly from the usual drug dealings throughout the past 2 years, he became quite a rich fellow and is now acting as a manager for a supply lifeline of ammunition for the Yakuza members. I would advise both of the PSC and PSE members to investigate this man for further clues as to find out the true objective of Sato Kazuto.”
“So…with that out of the way…anything else you wish to talk about, Countess? What about KARASU? We still cannot hold him down forever. He’s literally untouchable, even the best PSE members of the bunch can’t handle him.” Hamilton said, after taking a gulp of water from his cup. “I believe your assistance on funding efforts for any new procured vehicles for the PSE may be helpful, but money alone isn’t enough. We need to act fast and efficiently with our situation becoming more dire by a minute.”
“I believe I have answered that question about KARASU. The rest is up to you on how you handle the chip.” Asriel closed her eyes and took one last sip of her tea as she placed the cup back on the table. “Now then…if there’s any other further discussion about this, there is always an option to private talk through computers.”
“Understood…Countess. Then this marks the end for today’s PSC and PSE public council meeting.” Naze said as he and the rest of the other officers stood up, with Asriel being the last to do so.
Once they are all set, the cameramen started snapping pictures of them again, and soon enough Asriel was seen shaking hands with some of the PSE and PSC officers. After some of the officers took their suitcases and leave, accompanied by their bodyguards, the large doors opened once again and the figures made their way out from the building. The crowd of reporters were all trying to get a chance to ask them questions, before they got blocked and fended off by the bodyguards and bouncers who are already standing by at the gates outside long ago. As they slowly escort the officers out, only Naze, Hamilton, and the countess herself remained inside the building whereas the other bodyguards escorted the remaining reporters inside the hall, deserting the area eventually to a few people at the council table.
As soon as the hall is completely cleared of minors, Eris gazed upon the camera above and did a throat-slit gesture, ordering the cameraman to stop recording, and sure enough, the little red flashing dot above the ceiling faded as soon as the order was given, the place was so dark above, the camera cannot be seen exactly, but it is assured that the camera that was originally there has been moved away now.
“So what are you other plans for this, Countess…?” Naze asked patiently as he kept the memory chip inside his pocket.
“That will have to remain my little secret for now. But with that memory chip alone you should be able to have more than enough of a help you need for your next sortie.” Asriel replied as she took another cup of tea from Eris as soon as she finishes pouring it. “And the five of you…” Asriel turned her attention towards Tsubame and the rest of the crew behind Naze, they immediately stand at a ready position, awaiting orders.
“I wish you all the best of luck in your next mission. Use the data well, especially you…Officer Hirano.”
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Meanwhile, somewhere inside a dark room with a blackish grey colored capsule that seemed to be able to fit a person inside, eventually there is a window projected on the surface of the capsule itself; followed by a few beeping sounds on some blinking LED lights and it shows a cryptic text on the screen itself. It reads --
“Subject: 0.n.A-Σ 666
Simulation data no. 1996 – SUCCESSFULLY COPIED.
Proceeding on extracting data…”

Well... "Dammit…at this rate, we won’t be able to pursuit them any further…!" just a simple grammatical error. " 'f**k dammit!' The Honda CR-X driver snapped in frustration as he opened the windows, pointed his handgun towards one of the Honda NSX Interceptor and started shooting at it. As the bullet rounds flipped over the bulletproof glasses on the NSX, the driver inside immediately turn the steering towards the path of the CR-X, ramming the doors violently and shaking the driver off balance. 'GOD DAMMIT!'" remember what I said - keep the cursing varied and the last thing - Rong Wei running 50/50 torque distribution perhaps? She seems to be okay even with a punctured left rear tire. Also poor Lacia getting shot at the cheeks D':

Eventful chapter is indeed eventful after all. :3 Nice chapter as always, Kuroi! And reading it the 2nd time, I see you've corrected a few misspellings and stuff, not bad at all. And Lacia sure is lucky to escape Tsubame with a wounded cheek, even I know how scary a shot Tsubame is with her .44 magnum revolver as it always seemed to hit a vital spot... With that aside, hurray for the debut of Asriel. She sure has quite an authority charm, when she arrived in the hall, every single person shut up inside until she spoke first. Anyway...that last bit...fufufu...I am taking good care of you-know-what. Don't worry about it, ehehehehe.... All in all, keep going, keep going!

would you be able to keep with one type of speed measuring, not jumping between the two in the same paragraph, as i have no idea how much km/h in mp/h off the top of my head. it will be easier for me to judge the spped if you can keep with one unit of measurement.

Time for another introduction to a character. :3 “With these guns, I’ll make sure that no idiots use their hands to do anything stupid, even if it means breaking their arms off, I’ll make sure they’re all arrested ALIVE! That’s my way of being a cop!”Name: Giselle Oswald (ジゼル.オズワルド) Age: 23 Gender: Female Hair Color: Brown Eye color: Green Alias: Sharpshooter, The Young Valkyrie Rank: New Recruit Cadet Occupation: PSE Officer Nationality: American/British Car Model: Chevrolet Corvette C5 Interceptor Custom Team Unit: She is to be assigned to serve Tsubame’s team after her first mission evaluation Weapons: Electrical wires (Only used after apprehending the suspects), Desert Eagle .50 cal, M1911 Colt Elite 10/40 10mm Personality: Giselle is upbeat yet very sharp and instinctive upon reacting to gunfights or pursuit chase, and at the same time when she is not on duty, she is rather klutzy and gets worked up on a lot of petty mistakes she made, also bearing a habit of apologizing a lot to her higher up members. Her clumsy attitude yet somewhat feisty personality have shown to be rather endearing to Tsubame’s team officers, despite her awkward social skills. She is also known to be a very shy person when people speak of her liking cute things, rather than talking back and deny the truth; she simply just walks away quietly and pretends not to hear it. She is also known to be a very enthusiastic learner, always very eager to learn new thing when Tsubame commanded her to try something new on training sessions. Despite her somewhat likable attitude however, even as a new recruit cadet, her abilities as a PSE officer is not to be overlooked, the strength of her shooting the powerful Desert Eagle with one hand says a lot by itself, despite her rather deceptive stature and appearance. Once her handguns are drawn out in a mission, she is a force to be reckoned with, especially on gunfights as she is shown to be extremely deadly with her accuracy in marksmanship. Giselle usually shows her deadly nature when she is on a mission, while keeping her upbeat persona. Despite all this; she still has a tendency to make silly mistakes from time to time, like tripping on a ground when she thought the coast is clear of enemies after making short work of her targets. Biography: Giselle Oswald is one of the new recruit cadet members of the PSE police syndicate and she serves as an assistant unit for Tsubame Hirano’s team, after being assigned to the said position in her evaluation after her very first mission. She also serves as the late arrival secondary heroine of the story, next to the main heroine Tsubame. Born on 14th Feburary 19 1989, Giselle lives in a fairly rich family of Oswald at the United States of America, however, no news were heard from her family ever since she was sent to the academy near the Tokyo Area Region for further studies when she graduated from primary school at her own hometown. While studying at Tsubaki Academy at the age of 14, she befriends Yorumi Aoi and Hirusaka Akahibi, who were her 2 year seniors along with Shinobu Kurohane, who acted as a 3-year senior. Though she was very much a shy person that time with a tendency to act like a klutz, she remained endearing to her friends and as much to her embarrassment for showing her clumsy side to Shinobu at bad timing, even Shinobu finds her cute, and the remark immediately sent her to a hysterical swoon after blushing profusely. It was not long after her friends graduated, she slowly harbor a slight feeling of affection towards Shinobu, believing that he may someday be a strong man with a sense of unity. Furthering her studies at Tsubaki Academy later on to the end of her year, she takes on the final exam. Although she hardly displays any actual outstanding merits on educational range, psychical and sportsmanship wise, her marksmanship and archery records were the highest ever recorded in the history of the academy, earning her the recommendation of taking a more militaristic profession in the future, while graduating 2 months early in year 2007. She got her driving license short after her graduation. With recommendation at hand, she immediately accepted her next 5-year academic training at Tokyo University to improve her diplomatic status before preparing for her final profession assignment. Graduating from Tokyo University after 5 years, she finally turned her certificate in to the Public Speed Enforcers and exacted the recommendation of being a police officer. She has been assigned as a new recruit cadet at year 2012 during her official employment at said year soon after, while being armed with two powerful handguns due to her outstanding marksmanship. She was given a Desert Eagle .50 cal along with the Colt M1911 model 10/40 Elite 10mm handguns as her primary weapon. Corvette C5 Z06 Police Interceptor Custom - Top Speed: 328.1 km/h - Torque: 428 lb-ft - 0-100 km/h @ 4 seconds - Horsepower: 470 HP @ 6000 rpm Although not much has been done to the Z06 that Giselle drives, the gear ratio settings for Giselle’s trusty Vette C5 is a torque beast with a strong punch at straightaway boost at early gears. With ECU reset, muffler tune and a custom transmission installation, the C5 is a literal rocket in Wangan Line area. Equipped with the necessary gears and technology to go against speeding wrongdoers on daily routine, The Corvette C5 Interceptor originated from the Seacrest Country PD development team, while reengineered under the PSE’s technology center with Asriel’s wealth on sealing a deal for crime fighting efforts in Japan is easily one of the most efficient car used by the skillful drivers in the law enforcement side, fully loaded with EMP weaponry system, GPS monitor, and search radar. Trivia
Giselle is extremely fond of cute things, particularly pandas or fluffy animals like rabbits and hamsters and dormice. Giselle has a deceptive build for her arms particularly, as she is strong enough to handle the recoil from the Desert Eagle .50 cal, regardless of whether she is using her left hand or right hand. Giselle is ambidextrous. She can write with her left hand while type the computer keyboard just as fast using her right hand alone or vice versa. Giselle loves chocolate, particularly Venezuelan chocolate with milk. Shinobu once gave a chocolate bar to her 15th birthday and she is in love with it since.
