Well guys, I have some rather disappointing news to report...and no, it's not a delay. The damage model is reportedly going to be really similar to what was seen in GT5. In a recent interview conducted by Kotaku, a US PS producer said the following when asked about the damage:

QUOTE
The rather pleasant producer tells me that it’ll be similar to GT5. Polyphony isn’t about smashing cars up…

For those who may not know, Kaz purchased an R32 Nissan Skyline after he finished college. It "passed away" after being involved in a high speed accident. That's probably the reason why he was so hesitant about putting damage in the series to begin with, and it's probably why he won't make it realistic. I mean, he doesn't want to model what a Bugatti would look like after crashing at 260mph...

Watch this video, where he talks about it. It also shows other developers speaking.

So that's what really happened? Poor guy. I've known PD's reasons for not having damage long ago, but now seeing this, it all makes sense. I acknowledge this fact.

Also, just wondering, will the damage model be like the WRC premiums? Or will it be just same old distortion.

I am the kind who doesn't want damage.

As for what it will be like for all models, we don't know. All we know is that the damage will be similar to GT5 and that's it for now.

Anyway, we learned of two cars that will be making their way into GT6, courtesy of Mercedes-AMG. In a press release, Mercedes stated that the E63 AMG and A45 AMG will be coming to GT6, in addition to the already-seen SLS AMG GT3. Pretty bummed that we aren't getting the C63 Black Series at this point, but then again they said cars will be continually added. I'm pleased to see that we'll have those three to toy around in in GT6.

Wow that's cool of them! Hope to even see CLS 63 AMG's from both two generations. I'm feeling excited about this already!

In all honesty I doubt we'll see the CLS63. As much as I'd love it, there are already two 4-door AMG sedans that will be in GT6, the C63 and E63. A third really wouldn't make sense but who knows what could happen.

I don't really care about damage tbh.

GT6 is not "The Real Crashing Simulator".

In all honesty, I could go either way with damage. I don't like to crash cars either, but when I do, I'd like to see the car get beat up a bit.

Anyway, extended trailer out!

I don't really care about damage tbh.

GT6 is not "The Real Crashing Simulator".

Agree, Gran Turismo teaches players to not crash, to simulate how you would react in a real life situation to keeping distance between you and your opponents in a race. That's why during the license test, you fail when you bump someone or even going off the track.

Kazunori wants to get rid of the "childish" attitude towards the highly demanding damage models. I kind of wish Polyphony would introduce some kind of "reputation" system in GT6 where if you bump opponents or drive wrecklessly, your reputation would go down, so when you race online, people will know how you drive (sort of like the aura system in WMMT)

if you want unrealistic damage model, there's always Shift 2, Grid 2, Forza 4, Forza Horizon, other Need for Speed games

I still feel like a minimal damage system would be nice. Like GT5, maybe a little more extensive. It's really useful for multiplayer servers. Deters the trolls.

you can always turn off the vehicle collisions in multiplayer to stop people ramming you in corners.

personally im not really fussed about damage but if they improve it then whatever.

Just a reminder that E3 starts tomorrow in Los Angeles, and we can expect to hear alot of news about GT6 this week!

In the meantime, here are 28 screenshots of Silverstone for you to enjoy. It's worth noting that the Stowe Circuit, a small 1-mile track contained inside of Silverstone, does not appear to be rendered in playable detail. It was also not available to drive during the demo, even though PD scanned both Silverstone and the Stowe Circuit last summer.

Also worth noting, Silverstone appears to feature dynamic lighting and weather conditions, something only a handful of tracks had in GT5.

Matterhorn looks crazy scary, even though I'm not afraid of heights, it looks like a legit roller coaster.
