QUOTE (GT3 RS @ Yesterday, 10:39 AM) | Well guys, I have some rather disappointing news to report...and no, it's not a delay. The damage model is reportedly going to be really similar to what was seen in GT5. In a recent interview conducted by Kotaku, a US PS producer said the following when asked about the damage:
For those who may not know, Kaz purchased an R32 Nissan Skyline after he finished college. It "passed away" after being involved in a high speed accident. That's probably the reason why he was so hesitant about putting damage in the series to begin with, and it's probably why he won't make it realistic. I mean, he doesn't want to model what a Bugatti would look like after crashing at 260mph...
Watch this video, where he talks about it. It also shows other developers speaking.

I don't really care about damage tbh.
GT6 is not "The Real Crashing Simulator".

Agree, Gran Turismo teaches players to not crash, to simulate how you would react in a real life situation to keeping distance between you and your opponents in a race. That's why during the license test, you fail when you bump someone or even going off the track.
Kazunori wants to get rid of the "childish" attitude towards the highly demanding damage models. I kind of wish Polyphony would introduce some kind of "reputation" system in GT6 where if you bump opponents or drive wrecklessly, your reputation would go down, so when you race online, people will know how you drive (sort of like the aura system in WMMT)
if you want unrealistic damage model, there's always Shift 2, Grid 2, Forza 4, Forza Horizon, other Need for Speed games
