Ah good, take a seat. So each and all of us can't be super cheery and bubbly anime MC or heroines can we? No, not really.

So then. Ask freely. Vent freely. Speak freely. The good doctor hears all, no matter what the issue. We all have that weight on our shoulders. Naturally like any therapist, we won't carry any of that for you. But vent freely, and clearly, at least here you can find help.

So who's gonna be the Dr. for the first week?

Why? Is it much better to into a rant that nobody can make heads and tails out of in the PYRT thread?

Is this forum supposed to be professional?

The only rule is to not mention names at all. No locations even.

Alright then, have it your way.

@vent.
Recently discovered my college might be a shady business, since it initially advertised around TV and FB (where I read it said free Alien Ware Gaming Laptop) for doing its Gaming Design Course.
The part about it is it utilizes the students' governement benefits aka (VET-Fee help scheme) [aka Gov, pays for your course, you pay back when you get work about % of it until you reach the debt that owed] I intend to finish this course and find work one day and pay back the debt.

Of course, I signed up knowing the risks, read the fine print and all that, even attended the information session that detailed everything about it before committing to it.
I still committed to it.

It's been a very slow progress for me as its a self-paced learning program, (for a 22k course, wtf) 1-to-1 tutoring, which seemed like a half-lie, where the teachers go round in tables for the students at 2-5 minutes each and then they go back to their rooms for marking submitted work. (theres literally no exams, just online submitted works to the database u upload to on their website)

I finished 1/3 OHS/WHS safety related assesments, but it took me 2.5 weeks to finish coz I ceebed too much.
Then 4 more silly googling-type-of-assessment strenous extended roleplaying assesment.

then I can work on the 3D design and get the damn laptop and actually get to study properly.
I'm really overdue for this.

But that's not all, news been spreading around the tv and articles about how unprofessional, bad and even shady the college is, even thought they're just 1.5 years old.

I'm trying not to side any, but I feel like I knew this was coming, I went into a trap and I took it knowingly.
22k for a game-design diploma, where you owe the governmeny money 40$ a week when you start work, and a laptop that cost $2.7? I rather $ to get it myself.

And despite all that, i enrolled to make something of my time and my life and focus to stop focusing on the negative aspects of my life.

Then all this happens, i feel like, really really angry, depressed and blaming myself for being pocketed out.
The teachers aren't really that great, they try but they look stressed out.

Basically, I f**ked up.
The only thing i can think of is cancel / withdraw the course, go to the ATO (australian tax office) and get the debt written off because of all this bs.

But how do I go about it? I can't just, go in and tell the branch office, oh im gonna quit pls help me defer/remove the debt because im no longer interested in the course. Despite rising news, I wonder if the ATO/government's gonna help me in this matter. As i doomed myself having a feeling it was gonna happen, and let it happen.

@Kenzz

Honestly I have no idea what to say other than the typical you should never trust government schemes or that sort of rant.

But remember, this is YOUR future. Your only alternative is completing the course in a school which to my understanding, has a less than ideal rep.

My only advice is try and transfer (if that's how it works there) your credits somewhere more reputable. If the school really does have a bad rep, it's not going to do you any favors.

Of course, none of this is easy isn't it? You will have plenty of hoops and bureaucracy BS to deal with to transfer, especially from a program like this one. But I will try it if I were in your shoes.

It's never too late to fix it.

This is more of shady businesses taking advantage of disadvantaged people, get them to get on the government loan-scheme (which in-itself is a helpful thing but what they're doing is using a loophole and abusing it [against what the governemnts would wanted it be])

I read that people are unable to get a cancel/withdraw permission from the college and by that, you cannot get the loan from government wiped out and cancelled, at the tax office/governement etc. unless a bigger government power can help the students out.

I can't get a written consent to get it deffered, because obviously the college won't allow that, and therefore the students are fked over.

Because really, they just literally pocketed from the students and cant help educate them for shit properly.
Like a big scam. I told my dad this and he's like cancel it, you know what to do.

Far out, I feel like talking to hte Head of Branch at college about this and I fear it will not end well, but I just gotta do it.
Under Special Circumstaces

"heres waht the governemtn has to say"
-To withdraw from a unit or course without incurring a HELP debt or forfeiting an up-front payment, you need to complete your approved provider’s formal withdrawal procedures by the census date. For more information contact the student administration area of your provider.-

-f you withdrew from your course because you fell ill or because of other circumstances beyond your control, you may be able to have your HELP debt remitted under the ‘special circumstances’ provision of the Higher Education Support Act 2003-

Doesn't say anything about potential scamming. but regardless to all that, im sure the government's gonna do something about it soon.. hopefully.
