QUOTE (fortminor @ 2 hours, 14 minutes ago) | o guys bty wat will actuly happen, if you get caught like underage in a arcade?
bty namco woirld is like f ing bs.... 4 dollar a game.. thats like almsot as expensive in New Zealand... ef that == |
Lolz it's actually 4/2 at Namco World CWB. The 4 dollars is what you pay at the very start of the game. If you want to continue though, it only costs two bucks. So yeah, using current exchange rates, it's quite reasonable to play at 24 pesos per game (then 12 pesos to continue). Granted, if all you do is play once exit then play then exit, then it will cost you full price. @anyways The hotel that we are staying at in our visit next week is Grand Hyatt Hong Kong (so yup, it's just beside the big Convention Center). In that case I guess the closest place to play from where we're staying at would be at HK City Game 灣仔機城 Hong Kong City Game 香港灣仔馬師道2號地庫 (軒尼詩道交界) Basement Lee West Commercial Bldg.,375-379, Hennessy Road, Wanchai, HK Anyone been to the above location yet? How is it there? Is the place safe? Is it non-smoking? How much is the price per game there? Nevertheless, I will still do my best to pass by my current favorite places which are MK88, Telford and Namco CWB. P.S. I do have a question: Anyone been here to this place? Yeah, it's in Sham Shui Po (the computer haven of Hong Kong) but unfortunately, that place is in the outskirts and far from the tourist areas. With that said, I want to know if they have arcade games there.......or is that place only for playing Yu-gi-oh cards(?) My intent is to play music/rhythm games of Konami and I was thinking that the place featured in the pictures *may* be just that though I can't tell for sure.............though I do want to be sure because Sham Shui Po is far from where I'm staying and I haven't been there yet. So I want to make sure that it is worth it for me to go up to this far place. With that said, is anyone here familiar with that place?

QUOTE (busyyuu @ 4 hours, 35 minutes ago) | Ah! I think I used to go there before, actually. (HK City Game, I mean)
If it's the place I'm thinking of, the environment is so-so, and it's smoking. Decent game selection though. I don't know what you expect with "safe" though. Most of HK is safe as long as you're not stupid and don't go out of your way to piss off the wrong people. I mean, crime is generally low here. MK88 and Telford are definitely nicer establishments in nicer neightborhoods though.
Argh! I've been to that other place too, but I remember very little about it. I think they did have a game center though... possibly... I didn't go in if there was one.
Sorry, that wasn't very helpful. ^^; |
Most of hk is safe in arcades, just make sure you don't go and piss people off...

Yup Merry Xmas and Happy New Year to you and everyone else as well @anyways Flight to Hong Kong is on the 30th of December. I will most likely be at the following places: -HK City Game (gonna check the place out since it's near Grand Hyatt in Wan Chai) -MK 88 (most number of MT machines and the place has superb airconditioning) -Virtual Zone (best place in PRD to play music/rhythm games as of the moment) -Namco CWB (to fish noobs ) That's pretty much it (before we leave for Macau in a day or so). P.S. I do agree that it's harder to find places in Macau that have MT (esp. the place where X326X plays). I mean, just check at GOOGLE MAPS and all the street and road names are all written in Chinese (otherwise, it is in Portugese). It's definitely harder to look for arcade/game places over there............except for Fisherman's Wharf (besides Sands Casino Macau).....but even then they don't have Maximum Tune 3 DX

MK88 seems to be a nice place to play. It is a place with one of the most number (if not the most number) of Maximum Tune machines in any single location in the world (total of 24 machines: 4 are regular MT3; the other 20 are DX). The place is well airconditioned and the staff are quite friendly. As for safety, they have a roving security team that checks against criminal elements and troublemakers (though even that is not much of an issue there). Price for DX there is HKD$3/HKD#3 (and HKD$2/HKD$2 for regular MT3) though that was during my visit April 2009 (dunno if they lowered it now). @anyhow When I mentioned HKD$4/HKD$2, I meant: HKD$4 (or four coins/tokens) - cost of game during start-up or when you are to play your first game. HKD$2 - when you see the continue screen (which says 'yes' or 'no'), it will only cost HKD$2 or two coins/tokens to continue. That's what I mean by HKD$4/HKD$2 @anyways Yup, any place in HK will always be cheaper than in Australia. Even the most expensive place in Hong Kong is still cheaper than a cost per game in Australia (where most are at two australian dollars per game). It really cost an arm and leg to play in your country (unless of course you are loaded with tons of monies or something)..... Just my two cents

QUOTE (hkazne @ 2 hours, 41 minutes ago) | meet meet up up! |
Lolz Unfortunately though, since it's a family trip (as my parents are the ones who are paying for everything), I am not in control as to when I go and where I go when I'm in Hong Kong. This is because my parents want to make the most out of our trips (like going to tourist spots, shopping, etc etc). Arcade gaming is a lower priority Still, if you wanna try though, I would most likely be in either of the following places (as I mentioned in my last post). My cardname is "BLITZ" (the name applies to all the cards that I have). So yeah, it's a longshot but it would be fortunate if I get to see any of you WME forumers there during my visit
