NOTE:

DO NOT LOCK IF YOU INTEND TO REUSE THE OLD BANAPASS.
If you intend to migrate data out, and reuse the banapass, just go straight Migrate - Step 5 - . Only lock first if your banapass has been stolen.

Remark:

ACTIVE card = card registered on Wangan Maxi site

NEW card = Totally blank, unregistered (on Wangan Maxi site) card.

Always migrate data from an active card to a NEW card.

NEVER EVER migrate data from an active card to another active card. Doing so will REPLACE all of the card data inside the second active card, effectively ERASING all previous data in the replacement active card (UNLESS you want to "format" the second active card laugh.gif)

Make sure your card is registered online in Wangan Maxi page. This method DOES NOT WORK for unregistered cards.

Note: When you migrate data from one card to another, the old card will essentially be a new, unused card after the migration, unless the data was locked prior to migration.

If you intend to reuse the card, do not lock the data first.

You can only migrate to a new card.. Another card with data in it cannot be the destination for a migration..

I'll do it later, this thread should be stickied.

Hmmm, one thing is on my mind,
Best to send to a new bana unused or else it overwrites the new bana data eh...

Damn.

As S@R@H pointed out earlier, it is impossible to overwrite an active card. But there could be such possibility due to technical error. who knows.

I tested it before. Tried transferring to a blank card before and I got some error.

use the term registered or unregistered to clear misunderstandings as either way both could be active as in the card can be active yet not registered.

When card data has been migrated over to the new card, what happens to the old card? Does anyone know?

I forsee 2 scenarios:

1. Old card is forever locked and cannot be used further.
2. Old card is released from system and becomes a new unregistered card.

Scenario 2. I remember this when I did the Banapass registration topic back then, once your old data is transferred to a new card, the old card reverts to a clean slate, meaning it can be used as a brand-new card.

Hmm, according to the FAQ on the Banapassport Card site it is not the case.

It states here that:
A card that has been registered cannot be deleted.

A card that is registered can be frozen by migrating the data to another card.

I guess there's no way to confirm what's the actual result without sacrificing a card to test it out...

You are correct to say that a card once registered cannot be deleted from your account, because there is no option to do so.

However, I am referring to the scenario where data from card A gets transferred to card B. What happens to card A afterwards? Surely it will be removed from your account, else you'll use up your limit of 3 cards pretty fast.

The question then, is what happens to card A after it is removed from your account? To answer that question, we must first set the conditions:

Case 1 - card A unlocked -> data transferred to card B.

Case 2 - card A locked -> data transferred to card B.

In case 1, will card A be treated as a new, unused, unregistered card?

In case 2, the Banapassport Card site FAQ states that "※Note If you transfer data from the card while it is locked, the card can no longer be used." So we can safely say that a locked card that has it's data transferred becomes a "discarded" card that cannot be used anymore.

Card A will be removed from your account. It will be replaced with Card B. I can confirm it.

For my case I just re-registered Card A as my 2nd card to my account.

Just to confirm:

You had data in card A, which you transferred to card B. After which, you registered card A again as a new card into your account, so both A and B are in your account but A's data is now in B, correct?

Would Card A still be usable in a clean new formatted state?
Or forever no worky only for the tekken?

Also for some clarification:
1 email - 3 banas max.
more emails, more banas.

Not sure if bana removable (didnt read sorry)
Not sure if bana can be reset/format and re-usable as new.
Not sure if bana can transfer to a used/or/unused bana.

Ah. I'm an idiot.

You cannot migrate an individual car to another card. You have to migrate all of the data/cars to the other BanaPass in order to use that car with the other card. (I think).

I've never done this before so I can't be too sure.
