Haven't really tested the rims for speed... its all been handling so far...

QUOTE (AMON @ Today at 8:33 AM) | Performance-sensitive aftermarket wheels fit the scene perfectly. However, I find it to be a joke that they emulate wheel mass in a game that can't emulate vehicular dynamics. Besides, in reality, the differences in weight between typical Wangan cars are negligible--it bears almost no influence on the car.
Unlike you, I don't feel like I've gained an almighty insight into Wangan tuning by looking at pictures. There is a lot more behind tuning for a high-speed freeway car than the game leads us to believe. In my honest opinion, this translated 'wheel guide' is purely fabricated--the cited wheel descriptions are actually taken directly from the description of the real-life wheels, so I doubt they have any effect in a mainstream arcade game. |
Well, thats your opinion, and theres nothing stopping you from thinking so...
However, a lot of us do seem to think it does work, so, thats us i guess....
Then again... if they can make some cars go faster and some cars handle better... whats stopping them from making the kits and rims do so?
*shrug*
@ PDK
West is my general run... but i'm looking to break the east records too. i run west at about 6'8 consistantly on my current setup. my best time of 6'5 was with no aero, TE37's, no wing... my east time was 1'8 i think... but i only get 2'1 consistantly, dont really TA east that much yet.
I'm prolly gonna drop my aero and wings... then look for the best suited rims for a high speed run to take my IR attack on...
hence my need for rims. =)

You really do think I'm totally oblivious to any tuner scene, don't you? I put the * in *pictures* for a reason. Figure it out, smarty pants.
Have you even played the game enough to feel any difference between aero kits and wheels? I don't think so. Come back when you've finished the game and constantly run a decent TA time.
Dare:
Eastbound I run 01'7 constants, and I can do that with Official Machine and *mostly* all Wangan TA oriented cars set on AeroC with some form of Enkei or Rays. Cant really help you with West, I'm totally lost on how to run it haha. I would try Official Machine for a while though, see how you like it. I find it most stable and loses less speed in the minor bends (Supra) compared to some driver controlled settings.
Edit: whoops, typo.

Nah, not a real big fan of the official machine... even though its usable...
I probably could hit 1'7 constantly if I TAed east at all, but i havent touched it in a while, and even when i set my best time i only played 2 or 3 rounds.
The TCII's arent too bad I guess... could try the 57F's too...
hmm.. must try soon.
your feedback would help you know.. and save me quite a bit =P lol

QUOTE (PDK @ Today at 8:58 AM) | Not a big fan of Official eh.. I could always dig up some Supra's this weekend and give it a couple runs on Wangan, see how different setups go. |
nah. i'll be fine doing it myself... just would have been easier if new suggestions on speed based rims came up... dont wanna end up going to the same old stuff.
@ AMON.. its just that your statements on how dressups dont matter... err. sorta incite old problems... old flame wars, etc etc etc... so... yeah, it touched a nerve...

QUOTE (AMON @ Today at 9:00 AM) | Relax. I'm not here to incite any problems. I'm just a bit baffled by the hostility to a new community member. Looking back at my posts that allegedly caused the conflict, I haven't actually said anything that willfully defamed anybody or their personal playing preferences. I'm simply responding to what seems like an out-of-the-blue hostility.
What's with the exclusive elitism? I could say that same to you: come back to me when you know more about real street racing or JDM tuning, or own your own car. Don't you see there's a serious flaw in that logic of exclusion? |
dude, there's a real life tuners forum somewhere around, you might wanna comment there instead..
you're in the game section, so we are talking about the terms and physics about the game, not real life tuning. learn to separate. the reason why sometimes new forumers get shot is because there're some of them who just run their mouth as if they know everything. I'm not saying you are, but in general it's like that.
parts don't matter? have you played enough to know that it's so?
and oh, please don't try to be a smart arse. this is a game, real life physics don't apply here. respect the older community, we'll respect you.

Furanz.. personally, i dont really like the NT03 that much... feels a bit weird... the Supra and R33 are fairly similar, so i'd probably think if I were to try it on the 33, i'd feel the same way. But you might come to a different decision of course...

QUOTE (ac101 @ Today at 2:33 AM) | @ dare: i used official machine r33 for westbound and i managed to get 6'4 a few times, with theory time being 6'2... stock's accel for r33 is surprisingly very good...i dont think u will need to worry about wheels if u really got used to running with official r33 |
Dont have a 33.., =(
I run a Supra... =P
My problem might be cp4... i know i can get it down more, but i'm not consistant there... sigh
guess i will try out the OM.. then see what i do from there... might do better in stock... lol

QUOTE (furanz @ Today at 7:10 AM) | @ dare so, which rims is good for R33? |
i'm assuming what works for the supra will be similar on the r33... since both are high speed, low handling cars...
TE37's are good, one of my personal favourites...
