QUOTE (raven111 @ Yesterday at 4:56 AM) | Would like some player-based info on the Rays X401 - I'm honestly having a moderately difficult time interpreting the sheet Namco put up. Half the translation is a little ass-backward and semi-vague to me, particularly on the properties of each wheel. And I'm not exactly relying on the info at the beginning of this thread since it's a skimmed down version of the Namco page - unless it says "exclusively recommended for [x] cars", in which case I'll try them out.
Reason I'm asking is because I installed it on my Evo9, and am searching for a replacement. If suggesting replacements, please suggest something other than the Evo Forged - I think I overuse them and wanna try something else; they also give me some overslide.
*If anyone says "put it in the Mitsubishi thread", know that I'm trying to kill two birds with one stone - besides, it's pretty much one topic (Mitsubishi excluded). |
Hey dude. Bambi here. I think you should try using the Rays Volk Racing TE37's. I got my Osaka 48 with those rims. Lately I've been testing rims on a stock E8 and I've found that these rims outperform the "Legendary Enkei Forges." I say legendary because everyone has them in Hawaii right? Anyways from personal experiences these rims have great handling and somewhat lightweight. If I rated the weight out of 10, 5 being stock weight of car, I would give it a 6. A key advice I can give you when looking for rims is NOT to follow trends, like how everyone is using Enkei Forges. I've watched numorous top TA's for all courses and I've never seen one Enkei Forge.
But yeah. Give those rims a shot.

Thanks, Bam - I'll give 'em a shot. Thing is, tho, that I'm going for a black/blue color theme with my Evo9, and black ain't available for the 37s.
Before you start to chew me for appearance, it's performance first - I've considered the Rays GT-Cs, Rays GTMs, and Watanabe EIGHT SPOKES as well.
I'll switch 'em over; just that it's gonna mean another level to also switch my decal back to white-blue Flame2 as well.
UPDATE: Switched Evo9's rims to Rays GT-C, R2's rims to one of the Yokohama [x]CII rims (either RCII or TCII).

QUOTE (raven111 @ Today at 4:36 PM) | LOL - to throw us off? I'm thinking like the promo (or whatever) for "Terminator 2: Judgment Day". Line was, "This time there are two. Terminator 2"; and you're all thinking Arnold's the bad guy like he was in the first movie - SURPRISE!
Would try the shotfuns if I wasn't deterred by the fact they looks so PLAIN and all. In fact, it seems to mess up my car's appearance, despite my pref of a performance-aesthetic balance. I dunno. |
but the fact that they the most pwnage rims EVER makes up for whatever you think looks stupid.

I don't mean the wheels look stupid, it just throws off my car's appearance (sorta mismatch). Under the right conditions, they'd look good - just not with my current setup, ya? Also, might as well start if nobody's charted the wheel colors - just because, and please correct if necessary since I'm sorta color-blind (white~silver): - Rays GramLights 57F: silver, orange
- Rays A/X X401: Black, White
- Rays Volk Racing GT-C: Black, grey, _
- Enkei WRC Tarmac Evo Ltd. Ed. Forged: Silver
