Anything under the sun? This is gonna be a tough cookie, but let me see what I can do...

RX-8: Great handling and acceleration
MX-5: Nimble, suited for Hakone
MR2: Another nimble car, comparable to MX-5 in performance
R32: Superb acceleration
R35: God tank (IMO)
Z34: Decent stats, highest top speed
GDB/GRB: Comparable performance to Evo VIII/IX

And for added giggles:

R2: Smallest car, great for ninja-ing around those ramfests
HiAce: Supposedly has the highest top speed, higher than the Z34, also the best tank
Celsior: C'mon, who doesn't want VIPs?

I'm not the expert here, but this is what I can come up from observing other players and driving some of the cars here myself. Let's wait for other... specialists.

Surprised that you didn't add the Evo8. From what I've observed, it's like a lighter Mitsubishi-made RX-8 -- handles much the same but it's turn-friendlier for starters, and the accel is just...better.

From what I've observed, the following are pretty much the same car, just from different manufacturers. All I can supply for differentiation is the weakness that sets them apart:
-Evo8: Light-weight; Fast Accel; Mid Speed (349 km/h)
-RX-8/R34: Heavy-weight; Mid Accel; High Speed (350 km/h)
NOTE: Not too certain for Weight and Accel, so it's IMHO; working off given data for Top Speed

Trying to compile a list of starting ramps for a friend. Need some help:

SPOILER

I thought that he owns an Evo VIII, so I just left it out, but thanks for adding that one now that I saw that he has an Evo IX instead.

Here's what I scrounged up from Net searching:

C1
Outward: Shiba-koen
Shared: Kandabashi

Fukuoka
East: Hanmichibashi
West: Meinohara

Wangan Line
West: 13-gochi

Osaka: Douton-bori

supra is full crap when it comes to over all cars, im not joking ask supra owners & they will tell u that its fast but u cant really hakone it unless u practices a lot

r32 is a much better compared to the supra & the fd

Maybe it's cos Supra was my 3rd car that I find it easy to handle and win with it.

R32 is good for its handling, that I agree.

@NAMCO1_1

You might want to try a GTR35 for fun tho. Acceleration is quite good but it's rather bulky so slightly harder to squeeze through traffic.

You've got that backwards brother. Evo 8 is heavier than the RX-8, though retains similar handling.

Does picking different colors for certain cars change their models?

Not model, but trim. Picking yellow for FD would give you the Bathurst R trim. Choosing blue or white for the GDB would give you the GDB-C. Millenium Jade for the R34 will give you the R34 Nur.

If you want other models, you'll have to input a code into the shifter after highlighting a specific car.

Lets say I chose Jade for the R34 as the first color, but then switched to a different color. Would it still be the Nur trim or would it revert to the regular model? Also, does this work only on a specific version of Maximum Tune?

Would it work on any version of Maximum Tune (1, 2, 3, 3DX, 3DX+) or just specific versions?

Are there any notable changes between trims (for any car, not just the R34)? Does the cars' overall look change? Does the performance change?

Looks are something that change when choosing another trim. The Evo VIII MR RS, for example, loses the antenna (IIRC) from the GSR trim. The GT-R SpecV dons a carbon fiber spoiler and hood, and black rims, and also a special add-on to the tachometer, as opposed to the normal GT-R. There are many other trims that have different looks and slightly enhanced performances, but I don't have the time to look up on all of them... maybe someone else could fill in for me.

I've noticed some players keeping one hand on the wheel and one hand of the shifter. Would you recommend doing this?

I wouldn't, unless you're really comfortable with your steering methods. IMO, unless you're more experienced, it's better to keep both hands on the wheel.

I recommend to all that after you shift, put your shifting hand to the steering wheel. Well that's I do the most.

Shift hand stays on shifter is a personal choice. I agree with Neto that unless you're experienced with holding just 1 hand on the wheel, stick with both on the wheel after a shift.

Between the R32, RX-7 (FD), and the MR2, which would you recommend for courses with many turns, such as Hakone?

MR2 because it's more nimble than the former, plus it's smaller, so it gets a bit of an advantage.

R32 is a straight line beast compared to the other two, I would say RX-7 is a nice balance between both but for Hakone definitely MR2 smile.gif

I have a friend who has an FT'ed MR2 and he says it still handles well on the faster tracks (NBL, Wangan) but he says the car doesn't really have that great of an acceleration and top speed.

Never tried it myself though, only took his word for it.
