What are stars? How do you get them? Are they just used for showing off?
Also, is there any reward for getting to a certain mileage?

Stars are earned by beating other people in vs mode, how many stars a card has means how many people that car's beaten in vs. The number of stars you get per vs depends on how many are behind you, getting a 1st place win in a 4-way race earns you 3 stars, 2nd place earns 2 stars and 3rd place earns 1 star while 4th place gets none.

Getting to at least 5,000km earns you an aura, which grows bigger as your mileage goes higher. The color of the aura is dependent on the driving style meter on the card start up screen.

What are the different driving styles and their respective colors? If you gradually change your driving style, will the color of your aura change?

The driving style of the player during the battles is shown as "Racing style".
Physical contact with rivals: Cool <- -> Wild
Physical contact with other objects such as walls or cars: Smooth <- -> Rough

Ok, this may be a dumb question, but how do you retire in the middle of a race? Does retiring quit the game completely and eject your card, or does it bring you to the screen that asks if you want to continue?

To retire, turn around and go the wrong way. There should be a countdown. After retiring, it'll lead you to the mileage screen then the Continue screen as usual.

If there isn't a countdown, then retiring isn't enabled on your card. To turn it on, don't skip the card info screen - keep pressing view change until you see something that says "enable retiring" or something along those lines. Press the accept/refuse challenger button to "go down" if needed, and turn retire on.

If my opponent finishes before the countdown ends, does the countdown continue, or does the race end?

You will be only be able to retire in Story, Ghost and TA, but not in VS. If your opponent in story finishes before the countdown ends, the race automatically ends, but if your opponent in ghost finishes before the countdown, you will still be able to finish the countdown.

u can also retire in outrun as well

If I inserted the wrong card after putting in credits, is there a way to quit the game and get the card back, even if it means losing the credits?

Retire the soonest possible moment you can, but you will definitely lose the credits. I don't think there's a way to quit without losing credits.

How many levels are there to complete the story mode?

MT2 -80 chapters
MT3 - 80 chapters
MT3DX - 100 chapters
MT3DX+ -100 chapters

MT1 & MT4 - 60 Chapters
MT2 - MT3 - 80 Chapters
MT3DX - MT3DX+ has 100 Chapters

today i transferred my supra from MT3 to 3DX+, is there anything to achieve in story mode like getting the Midnight R OST, MT3's Tachometer or 3DX+'s Tachometer?

Finish story mode without losing (unshaded) to get all those you mentioned (except the special tach, because I ain't sure about how to get that), unless you already have those.

I played the first 180 chapter in the story mode, how many more to unlock the special tach?

i don't have the MT3 Tach but is theres the MT3 tach available in 3DX+?

mt2 racing tech must be from unshaded mt2 card when u transfer to mt3, u finish 20storys unshaded u get a onion tech

Yeah, in 3DX+, the extra 20 stories to get 825hp. Clear those stages unshaded.

ok lets just use this to describe it:

racing meter - the one you get for having a card transferred to mt3 that was unshaded in mt2, it's white and has shift light (lights up blue in night time)

special meter aka onion meter - black meter with shift light. you get this by doing 100 stories unshaded.

what about getting Midnight R OST in 3DX+?

Same condition, clear the remaining story stages unshaded.
