QUOTE (rrise @ Yesterday, 3:06 PM) | which one is a better car to race with? evo IX or evoX? |
Evo IX is a balanced car, X is the heaviest Mitsubishi car after GTO and both of them are good in battles
QUOTE | The spec v can suck it. I'm more than happy with my old-school tank. >D
After more practice with the GTO, I'm in love. This will have to be my new secondary. I like how it's actually drivable now after the horrible changes it went through in DX, but man, this is a battle monster. Things try to ram me. I do not move. At all. Ohohohoho~!
Well, mostly with Evos though. The big R35 pushed me a bit, but otherwise, not much. :3 The newfound (er, or recovered pre-DX) stability makes it formidable once more, and it's simply a rock when it comes to ramming. I guess I'll work on getting a hundred stars with the GTO next. ^^; |
Hehe, you're right, its a battle monster when you can handle it <3

QUOTE (obby @ 1 hour, 11 minutes ago) | A massive brick...
@busyyuu: is it really that upgraded? |
I think so. I casually did a few noob battles previously, but the other day I busted it out against some regulars (and angel ^^;) for the first time in a while.
Besides now being drivable, it's ability to control space is still present and devestating. I don't make too many concentrated efforts to ram, since with the R33, it's heavy enough so that a lot of people tend to go overboard on the ramming (since it doesn't move much) and post themselves. The GTO takes this to the extreme. While it has regressed to pre-DX levels of handling (which is totally workable now, as in getting gently tapped by an R2 doesn't send you careening into the barrier like it did in DX @@;), the ridiculous weight is still present and now generally counteracts any ramming. It is also absurdly effective in battle. I didn't even have to ride people into the wall. I tapped Angel in one of the wide Osaka turns (first turn on the right from the start) and he went flying into the wall on his own. It's that great. :D
I think overall, the big change was that the huge weight is actually controllable now. Previously, it just threw you haphazardly at anything your car was moving towards. Now, it's a hundred times more responsive. It could just be my setup for all I know (I haven't changed since I transferred), but I'm loving it regardless. ^^

QUOTE (raven111 @ 9 hours, 20 minutes ago) | What's w/ the new fascination w/ the GTO? |
I'm starting a bandwagon. :3
I kid, I kid~ It's just that it was an epically bad car in DX. It was basically so heavy that you had to fight it with every single turn to get it to do what you want. You could get it to go like that after a fashion, but it's composition was worse than glass. On turns, even the most minor taps from any car (didn't even have to be a heavyweight) sent you careening into the wall because the weight was so stupidly unbalanced. It was so fragile that it was ridiculous and utterly unplayable in battle. This has since been fixed, returning it to its pre-DX stability. So now it's still really heavy, but it's not a pinball in turns, instead resisting rams quite well. Thus, in its present state, it is a super heavy, quite slidely (but controllable now), very fast car, which works quite well in battles.

Or just that you play too much with the heavyweights...
@raven111: i guess its one of the neglected cars in the mitsubishi series?

QUOTE (burntrounds @ 1 hour, 7 minutes ago) | and @ Busyuu Not FRAGILE. A MASSIVE BRICK! |
Oh, it was very fragile. Let me explain.
The GTO in DX was very hard to handle because you could feel all the weight sliding to one side very noticably in any turn, meaning you had to fight against it in order to come through with a good line. However, this stability was very weak, and if you got hit on the inside, it completely upset the weight distribution, giving the weight more momentum towards moving to the far wall of the curve (instead of keeping your line), and thus it usually put you into the wall because you couldn't fight the increased momentum. I mean, getting hit in any car from the inside on a curve does that, but for whatever reason the GTO was stupidly unstable. This made it as easy to hit into walls as lightweight cars, like RX7s or the MX5. Other cars in DX had much better ram resistance, even other heavyweights. In my opinion, the GTO just felt TOO heavy. It was just too hard to control, and thus really easy for others to smack around on curves because controling the weight momentum was so damn difficult.
I really tried to make it work too, since I had lost my R34 main at the time and was trying to transition to a new car. I tried for... what? A month or so? But it just didn't click. It was just too easy to get planted, so I switched. All this has been fixed in DX+, making the car infinitely better imo.

All you need now is like chaser/celsior to complete the collection of heavyweights...
