Oh, it was very fragile. Let me explain.

The GTO in DX was very hard to handle because you could feel all the weight sliding to one side very noticably in any turn, meaning you had to fight against it in order to come through with a good line. However, this stability was very weak, and if you got hit on the inside, it completely upset the weight distribution, giving the weight more momentum towards moving to the far wall of the curve (instead of keeping your line), and thus it usually put you into the wall because you couldn't fight the increased momentum. I mean, getting hit in any car from the inside on a curve does that, but for whatever reason the GTO was stupidly unstable. This made it as easy to hit into walls as lightweight cars, like RX7s or the MX5. Other cars in DX had much better ram resistance, even other heavyweights. In my opinion, the GTO just felt TOO heavy. It was just too hard to control, and thus really easy for others to smack around on curves because controling the weight momentum was so damn difficult.

I really tried to make it work too, since I had lost my R34 main at the time and was trying to transition to a new car. I tried for... what? A month or so? But it just didn't click. It was just too easy to get planted, so I switched. All this has been fixed in DX+, making the car infinitely better imo.

so now its still as ram resistent? or just normal? and since its improve, its easier to handle by alot or a still certain a amt of skill is needed?

Take your pick?

They're both as good as the other, or rather:

Each has strengths where the other is weak

Why are 5-Spke WRC Tarmacs common on Evo8? Even I have used them for handling although they seem light for rims.

Now it's ram resistent again. If you're used to heavy cars, it's easy to control. Otherwise, you have to get used to it.

JS-M , 3 Spokes or 57A

Well, do elaboarte further on your questions. It might help a bit though. I'm currently using 57A for my E9

Are Enkei 5-Spoke Tarmacs good on Subarus (STIs) too for ram-resistance and good handling?

Hey just wondering whats a good set up for an evo 8?

I gave this guy a rename evo 8 and its set up was

Aero A
3D Wing
Those Enkei Forged rims...evo rims
Ducted Hood

The car drove like a charm and i got 3:49 in osaka with it. Then he changed the rims to 57F's and i couldn't control the car. Had so much oversteer. I drive a rx-8 and a mr2 and theyre slidy cars...but the evo was like really really slidy. Since the guys on level 50 dress up do i just get him to use stock rims or are there better rims for the car that will provide grip?

At such low HP, it will barely make any difference at all. You should full-tune your car before you bother with dress-up at all.

they should make a thread that explains what Carbon and ducted hood does, because the function they serve are frequently misunderstood. idea for sticky
