QUOTE (Jammy @ 7 hours, 22 minutes ago) | anything beyond 4:50:xxx is awesome time in my book. |
The R35 does have quite a big ass, so my room for turning is severely limited. Maybe I should transfer my RX-8 to DX+ soon and start taking TA records and crowns.

QUOTE (Gunma's 34 @ 7 hours, 20 minutes ago) | On the outbound, how do you take the last hairpin downhill before you get back up to the uphill section? (as in right after the chicane then the semi-circle/semi-roundabout.
My times were good from CP 1-3 then I fall behind at CP 4 because of those last 2 hairpins. |
If that's the chicane with a small section of it that is inclined, I usually go to the outer section, tap the brakes, full turn, then countersteer and accel away. Same basic principle of out-in-out in a corner.

QUOTE (Jammy @ 33 minutes, 56 seconds ago) | QUOTE (Jimmy155) | lawl 4'38 with r34 isnt hard. |
FFFFFFFFFFFFFF- and i thought getting 4'50" with it is hard enough. or with any car for that matter. XD QUOTE (Gunma's 34) | so... I take the hairpins on gear 5!? O.o *must practice hard once this is confirmed* |
this should be interesting xD

tbh hakone is just series of pattern, once u understand the pattern its pretty easy.
Ive stoped TAing hakone for nearly 1year and a half and, when i was playing i got it down to 4'37'5**, which isnt fast compare to all those pro honky who are flying around with like 4'34 or is it 4'33 by now XD
but yeh the best way to learn to play hakone is by just dividing the hakone into inbound and outbound, in other word just keep on playing ghost lvl 9 or lvl10 ?(the super hard one before ghost kings XD) and vs the PC cars (example: zzzzz, Taro, Kevin, Ben, etc). Also while you are learning do not ever give up and turn back, finish the entire course, by just doing that you will be able to learn hakone within 1~2hours.
Once you memorise the corners, goto TA mode, try for few hours then swtich to one hand driving (just one hand on the wheel). Some people might think this is useless, but from what i can say is by just practising using one hand the entire course without hitting any wall gives;
1. accurate turning point of your car, for each corner 2. gives better ideal of how your car moves in each corner. 3. better ideal of decel during corner 4. You will be able to learn how to react in each situaion without hitting walls (gas off braking etc) 5. better gear shift control?! (good and bad, one thing dont ever put ur self into a situation where you have to gear down more then 1 gear below the max gear).
if you fix bit by bit over time, your time will drop

QUOTE (D33DO @ Feb 7 2012, 07:00 AM) | seriously?? I always go to 3rd gear in hakone with R32 GT-R..hmmm..maybe it's my lining problem |
Line is a big factor of how fast you can go in hakone. People say exit speed doesn't really matter, and while it's generally true, exit speeds in hakone can hint what may come up. For example, either inbound or outbound, the first red turn, if you exit 140, it's gonna be a nice run. 130 would be an okay run, and the middle red turn should be around 150, anything below might be able to be compensated. But yeah, go all out on your runs, take the turns as best as you can, and once you consistently do the turns, muscle memory will take over and no matter what car you may run (hi-ace, evo VIII, r32, what ever it may be,) you'll do well! Practice makes perfect!...Or close to it!
