if u dun lose for the whole loop, u will get the special tacho.

as for unshaded/shaded question...when u start a new loop, your card will unshade...u dun have to complete the loop to unshade...your card will however shade on the first loss, as per normal...

there was once something known as permanent unshade of the card...hearsay that now it's gone...i have not experienced it for myself yet and see no reason to try...: )

Well, actually I lost the story mode by 0 m....and that sucks, but one thing that's on my mind is, will it still shaded even if we finished 100 stages again without losing, and you answered my queestion, so...thank you....

I'm still confused with the shading/unshading in Version C.

Well I dunno if something was established but in my case: I just lost on chapter 305 (stupid traffic on C1 turns) but thankfully, I'm still unshaded wahoo. I also lost at chapter 350 many times (because of a slight nudge against a truck made me loose speed) because that Blackbird over took me . Thankfully still unshaded

If my guess is not wrong, your arcade's DX version should be A right(Not sure is glitched or what. Last time i was also likthat but shaded after Ver,? Once it is upgraded to to Ver.B and above your card would be automatically shaded. So i advice you to faster clear the loop and get the meter.

Only if you finish story unshaded.

Yes. But they all have to be unshaded.

if you fail a stage upon transfer (181-200), you can still get the fugly special meter by completing the next loop (that's 100 stages) unbeaten

If I remember right, I finished stages 280-300 undefeated (it was either in version A or version B orange).

The time I lost was as I said, stage 305 in a version C machine.....but surprisingly, it wasn't shaded.

Someone told me that when you already undef/unshaded in DX (after completing last 20 stages or a full cycle), then you can never be demoted......or at least that's what I heard.

Either way, I'm still confused about this whole shading/unshading thing in version C.

I am not sure then...as i only know my car was shaded once lose in ver.c.

Because you lost, therefore you shaded.

You need to complete a loop (100 stories) unshaded to get the Special Tacho Meter!

This does not work.

If the AI finishes first, then the game will end, you cannot retire.

Maybe retiring halfway will not make you shaded, but personally, I never tried, as most of the time, I keep up with the competition until 300m left, in which it becomes a free for all, practically speaking.

You'll have to retire early in the game to be safely safe!

Loll, how bad can you be if you would retire at the early stages of the story mode?? Hahaha.

Sort of beats the point of doing it..

I mean, you can accidentally hit a divider or something, but if you still have 10+ km left, you should be able to catch up if you drive properly, with the ghost system and all.

Dunno about later cycles though.

it's mentioned in the comments on this vid that you can have traffic in time attack on mt2, mt3 and mt3dx, and has something to do with holding down the red button. is there' any confirmation of this, and where do i hold down the red button and for how long?
i'd love to do the 60k time trail on mt3 with traffic for once instead of an open clear road.
