I have updated the NorCal section with your info. I'll probably check it out since I go up in that area once a month. Thanks so much for the update!

The owner of the site told me that new cards are $2.50 while renewals are $2.00, so updated your post on the NorCal listing.

EDIT (8/13/15): Stockton is about 50 miles east of where I go every month, so I might not be heading that direction soon.

SoCal update

Not much has changed, except a couple noticeable things:

Round 1 - Lakewood Center Mall: The cabinets are now back on Time Play, which means that if you have a Tuning Card, you can play a lot of games for very little money by swiping every minute or two. (You need to wait 90 seconds before swiping again, but I'm unsure if they still have that silly rule where you can't swipe the same game twice.) I'll need to check the other Round 1 arcades I visit to see if they are also like this. This was probably done because they no longer have cards.

Nickel Nickel: In the span of two weeks since my last visit, one of the card readers from the "new" machines (#2) has apparently failed, as it now reads "Card reader not functional". Also, I didn't see the manager I wanted to talk to about putting cards in the machines, even though I had some cards to show him. I'll bring them next week and hope he's there.

Should note that they have 2x WMMT3DX PLUS (Japanese version) not English and they have cards.
Unless one of their Max Tune cabs are down.

Last time I went they only had 1 cab set up, not sure if they got a second from the last time I went. And yeah JPN version my bad.

You guys in SoCal are not going to be happy with the update I have for a few of the arcades listed below...

Round 1 - City of Industry: All 4 cabinets are no longer linked and are back on Time Play, since they have no cards. (This has also happened with the 2 Japanese cabinets at their Lakewood Center Mall location.)

Round 1 - Moreno Valley Mall: Has reduced their cabinets from 4 to 2, and the #2 cabinet is showing "NO SIGNAL".

Family Arcade: This got me really upset when I went here. This is the only location that has WMMT 3DX PLUS cards, and now they have raised the price to $4.00 a card. Completely outrageous.

But, there is a ray of light in all of this darkness...

Gameworks - Ontario Mills Mall: I had the technician refill both cabinets with cards. (They have about 100 cards left by my estimate.)

Besides Gameworks, I think these arcade operators here really don't want WMMT to be a thing anymore, and know they will make a huge profit off of anyone who still wants to play the game. This makes me really want to have Nickel Nickel succeed with their WMMT 3 machines, but they need to fix (or get replacements for) those two broken card readers.

Even Namco USA does not sell cards at $4, so either that family arcade is being greedy or they trying to have people purchase new cards less so they always have stock? (or another thought is trying to use that money to repair a machine idk) Someone should talk to the Round 1 techs / management about stocking cards for their Max Tune machines, they stock emusement and whatever other games that require it except Max Tune. I'm sure they even stock IDAS8 cards. Its good that you got the gameworks location to restock cards but damn theres a lot of locations that don't seem to have cards anymore.

I'm sure they even stock IDAS8 cards. Its good that you got the gameworks location to restock cards but damn theres a lot of locations that don't seem to have cards anymore.

I am thinking because of the new Round 1 opening in Santa Ana, CA and soon in San Jose, CA, I have seen two locations (Lakewood Center Mall and Moreno Valley) both lose two of their Japanese WMMT 3DX PLUS machines.

I am wishing that the City of Industry location might be getting something better soon, because there is no reason to all of a sudden remove the link from the four machines and then convert the game to Time Play. That would detract from the driver base even more to a point that it would just cease to exist.

I used to see people battle very often at Round 1 - City of Industry when they had cards. Now that they have Initial D 8 and no cards in WMMT 3DX PLUS, people have been flocking to that. And yes, when I see the Japanese text saying it's out of cards for Initial D 8, it is always restocked rather quickly.

I don't buy the Initial D cards anymore, because I now have versions 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 (AA - which doesn't work in the one NorCal location that has it), and 7 (AA X) - and once I get the cards, they always upgrade to the next version quickly. It's a joke, really. One spends so much to get a card to then be rendered useless because of the upgrade. (Remember: starting with Initial D 4, they went to a harder plastic card which can only be used by that version and even certain regions, as I learned from my version 6 card not working in another arcade.)

I typed up a very nice letter that I was going to give to the managers of Round 1 - City of Industry, Speedzone, and Gameworks in regards to the WMMT cards, but I decided I better just e-mail them instead and see if they are interested. (Gameworks has enough cards, so I am not going to send them anything.)

I was very disgusted to see Family Arcade selling their cards at $4.00 now. Even at $3.00, it was a little much (but Round 1 and other locations were close to that price). Now, I feel like I'm being gouged for being a WMMT player. I'm just happy that the maximum they could technically charge us is $4.75 (19 x $0.25) due to the machine's credit limit capability. Even James Games selling their cards now at $3.50 irks me a little. (Don't even get me started on their $6.00 Initial D 4 cards.)

In regards to locations that don't have cards, a lot have card readers that are simply failing. This year alone, I can count at least five card readers failing off the top of my head, which doomed WMMT 1 and WMMT 2 card owners here in SoCal. A WMMT 3DX machine is non-existent in SoCal (except the brief weekend where we had one at Anime Expo - that was brought in all the way from Sacramento). We're stuck with WMMT 3 and WMMT 3DX PLUS if we want to play anything.

UPDATE (08/21/15) - I found a new location that has two WMMT 3 machines, and they have cards, as neither cabinet showed "New cards not available" nor "Card reader not functional" either! I will add that information later. Added info!

Golf N Stuff
Address: 10555 Firestone Blvd, Norwalk, CA 90650 - (562) 868-9956
Hours: Click here for hours
Cost for a game: 2 tokens ($0.50)
Card Renewal: Unknown
Notes: Cabinets are located in the party area (under a sign by the door that says “Arcade”), not by the main entrance.
Cabinets:
  • (2) WMMT 3
Source(s): almightytora
Last updated: 08/21/15

Also, I was advised that Round 1 - City of Industry linked their machines back.

Finally, Nickel Nickel now has cards (thanks to me) only until Monday, 09/07/15, because they are moving to a new location. See the updated information below for more details!

Nickel Nickel
Address: 7454 Edinger Ave, Huntington Beach, CA 92647 - (714) 847-2191 [UNTIL 09/07/15]
Address: 12827 Harbor Blvd, Garden Grove, CA 92840 [NEW ADDRESS SOON]
Hours: Click here for hours
Cost for a game: 6 nickels ($0.30)
Card Renewal: 19 nickels ($0.95) - Cabinets #1 and #4 only
Notes: $2 entry fee, or "check-in" on Facebook (user name nickelnickelhb) for $1 admission. #2 and #3 - Broken card readers. I had the manager add my old Discards in cabinets #1 (14 cards) and #4 (15 cards). I will take any unsold ones on 09/07/15, their last day.
Cabinets:
  • (4) WMMT 3
Source(s): almightytora
Last updated: 08/21/15

UPDATE (08/23/15) - Found a place that sold Initial D 4 cards, but then my inquiry response was they wanted $4.75 a card with a minimum order of 100. No thanks! Now, $6 doesn't look so bad after all.

UPDATE (08/29/15) - Same place also sells WMMT cards, but they sell them for $1.50 a card with a minimum order of 200.

UPDATE (08/31/15) - Updated a couple locations in the SoCal list, including removing Camelot Golfland, as their WMMT 3DX PLUS machine is gone now.

I saw a customer renew his card at Nickel Nickel and I asked if I could see the resulting card. It came out nice and he played the game again, and it verified his info on the card. (He actually bought a second card for another car he wanted to tune up, so I saw that one and verified the info as well.)

2x Maximum Tune 3DX+ Japanese Cabs, no cards.

I was highly disappointed when I saw them today. They're priced at 4 credits, higher than any other Round 1 in California. In fact, many of the games are priced higher than any other Round 1 in California. A lot of games were not working (red swiper), out of tickets (blinking red swiper), or had errors on the screen yet the swipers were still active. I wasn't impressed. Also, one cannot use a Round 1 card from SoCal here. I tried to and it did say it was trying to download the balances, but when I swiped again, the swiper told me I could not use the card here.

The only positive going for them right now is that they are having a special on the Club Card. Buy one for $5 and get $5 of credits for free, and get a coupon book with some valuable coupons, like 2x bonus credits and some free stuff (normally, the $5 Club Card comes with no credits on it).

I will update the NorCal section with the information.

I copy / pasted the previous information I saw and simply updated it to what I saw when I visited these locations...yesterday I visited tilt solano mall and weberstown mall. I also take pictures of the cabinets themselves because I also update the arcade section over at zenius website.

I use to be a regular at milpitas golfland but when the back arcade room was converted to a laser tag maze I stop going that often. They use to have 4 wangan cabs but now only have 2 and 1 was only working on my previous visit.

The only golfland I have not visited in the past year is emerald hills in San Jose. They use to have 4 3dx+ cabs. I did not want to include that information because I need to confirm if they still have it first. I'll go this weekend.

The locations I updated / included I have visited all within the past month.

Thanks for the update, 2ZZ-GE.

I haven't checked the movie theater one (Century Theater 20 Daly City), as one requires a ticket (or someone who is polite for me to just check). If you check that, please let me know.

The Milpitas Golfland is okay, but the arcade is very small now. Not worth the trip, IMO.

Also, I contacted Arcade Replay, and they verified your information and even added this: "We just got a third 3dx+ this past weekend. We plan on getting a 4th one soon."

Does the NorCal section of the Zenius site look like what we have now?

Thanks again for all your hard work! w00t2.gif

I highly doubt it the daly city movie theater still has those max tune 3 cabinets because I know the distributor of those arcade games. It's 2 guys and they are called R&R Amusements. They cover the whole bay area movie theaters with arcade games. They actually have 2 wangan cabinets for sale on the Bay Area Craigslist listed as "non working" and are asking a ridiculous amount for 2 non working games.

I'll email or call them this week to verify the information.

Yea I spoke with the owner of arcade replay. Nice people, family operated arcade. He has plans to move to another location that's open all week.

I'm slowly updating the Zenius website with the information that's found here

I'll try and update here more, I need to visit a location in Modesto that apparently has 2 max tune 3, a casino in rancho Cordova that has 2 max tune 2 and San Jose golf land.

Apparently, over in Chadstone, the Timezone they have in their mall seems to have "Permanently Closed", at least thats what it says on google

Anyway, cutting to the point, this is a warning to anyone who was planning to make a trip over there because I'm not risking it; You'll probably be wasting your time

(Also, this is also an update for the location in Australia, Victoria DO NOT POST THIS LOCATION AGAIN UNLESS ITS VERIFIED)

On the Timezone page under Victoria, there is no "Chadstone" location listed anymore, so we can assume that the Google "Permanently Closed" tag is correct.

Also, updated a few SoCal locations.

You might want to delete the Daly City Theater location.

Just called R&R amusement. Max Tune 3 have been removed for years now. They told me they are for sale. Nothing wrong with them just that they were very problematic at the location because kids kept shoving the ticket stubs in the card reader and causing the game to error out.

They shut off the card readers and the games started to not bring in money. They were removed from location and are now sitting in a warehouse in Gilroy.

I will go friday and see these cabinets, they are for sale. One is complete and the other has no monitor they said. They are parting that one out.

If you guys need any parts for the machines let me know and ill ask them for prices.

Thanks for the update, 2ZZ-GE. I have removed the location from the NorCal list.

Could you do two small favors for me, please?

(1) Please see if either (or both) of the cabinets still have the tuning cards, and if they are willing to sell you just the cards? If they offer a reasonable price for them, I might buy them myself.

(2) Could you please find out how much the card reader mechanism from the "parting" one costs? Nickel Nickel here in SoCal might have some use for it to replace of their broken card readers.

EDIT (09/11/15): Thanks for the reply via PM, 2ZZ-GE! I have contacted Nickel Nickel to see if they are interested in the card readers, and thanks for the URL for the cards.

Also wanted to point out that Arcade Replay updated their facebook page saying they replaced the last 3 they had with a 4th 3DX+.

Updated NorCal with your info. Thanks!

UPDATE (09/13/15) - I got a message from Arcade Replay saying that their 4th WMMT 3DX PLUS is "Version A", so they cannot link it to the other three "Version B" cabinets. Do you know what needs to be done to change that Version A to a Version B? Do they have to buy an update chipset? (See attachment below.)

Updated both SoCal and NorCal with new info.

UPDATE (09/14/15) - Arcade Replay responded back.

"I ended up calling namco amusement directly. I have to send in my hard drive and security dongles of 3dx+ to them to perform the Ver. B update."

They have to do that to link all four machines together.

UPDATE (09/15/15) - Arcade Replay update

"I kinda have to [upgrade the Version A WMMT 3DX PLUS machine to Version B], it will not link up with my current ones due to the different version. I'll just set that one back to 3 and send in my 3dx+ to get updated to Ver.B so that I can finally have 4 player 3dx+"

Also, he has advised me that he has installed two WMMT 3 cabinets at a local ice cream shop called "United Paleteria y Neveria", located at 2530 E Fremont St, Stockton, CA 95205 - (209) 469-0303.

Updated Arcade Replay's listing and added United Paleteria y Neveria's listing.

UPDATE (09/19/15) - Nickel Nickel is now saying it might take two to four months for them to reopen again, so I updated their listing (I won't change the date updated in the listing).

Washington

One of my friends who lives there says that the Round 1 has two WMMT 3DX PLUS Japanese machines. I will put this listing here for now, and update it when I go up there next weekend.

Hours: 10a - 2a daily. 18+ after 10pm, 20+ after midnight
Cost for a game: 1 swipe ($1.00)

What is the general cost for that machine?
Also is it a US/JP cab? WMMT3 or DX+?

(Sorry, came in here a bit late so the last few posts are all I've read).

Also, I want to update these locations once more, as I've been following closely for developments.

Update Plaza Del Sol Location:
Time Out
Address: Plaza Del Sol 725 West Main Avenue, Bayamón, PR 00961, United States
Hours: 9a-9p during the week, later on Fri/Sat.
Cost for a game: $1 / 4 tokens
Card Renewal: $2 / 8 tokens
Notes: Left side fully functional. Right side has one busted seat speaker (left) and the wheel is tilted right, causing you to veer to that direction, HAS feedback as well. Machines are currently linked. Two ID3 machines also here.
Cabinets:
  • Two (2) Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune 2

Update Plaza del Caribe Location:
Time Out
Address: Caribbean Cinemas at Plaza Del Caribe, 2050 Ponce By Pass, Ponce, 00717
Hours: 9a-9p, later on Fri/Sat (Closes at midnight)
Cost for a game: $1 / 4 tokens
Card Renewal: $1 / 4 tokens
Notes: Left side has no feedback - management has told me the part is ordered and will be fixed within the following days, so expect this to change - and right side left speaker is busted too. Everything else works fine and both machines are linked.
Cabinets:
  • Two (2) Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune 2

As I mentioned last time, there's a WMMT1 in a nearby location to PDC, but it is incredibly busted: tape over token feed, monitor is discoloured, has no cards. Safe to say it's OoS and probably won't change.
