I've read the posts about NFC, and I was wondering, in Maximum Tune 4, is the car data stored directly on the Bandi Passport, or is it stored somewhere else, like a server? Could it be both?

Also, is car data in MT1-MT3DX stored directly on the tuning card?

In mt4, the data is stored on a server.

In mt1 - 3dx+, the data is stored on the card

So, couldn't it be possible for your car data to be lost in MT4 if the server gets damaged, or by a similar matter?

I think Namco won't be that careless. They are bound to have backup servers. I believe they are also using the same technology for Tekken.

So far, there have been no reports of such an issue with the Japanese players.

In MT4, can I select a starting color when I renew? Or will it just be inspection colors?

You can change the colour of your car at anytime at the Wangan Terminal =)

I think even starting colors are selectable, but you still have to unlock inspection colors through ghost mode. So instead of unlocking dress-up parts while playing, you get new color options instead.

Wait, so in MT4, ghost battles give you both new colors and dressup? Also, will unlocked inspection colors on MT3DX+ be transfered to MT4?

I think so, unless MT4 has a new set of inspection colors. I'm not sure, there wasn't anything about the colors mentioned on the thread starter's post.

After 60 games you get the next colour, but unlike 3DX+ where you had to pay for a new card, there is no additional cost.

So basically every 60 games is next inspection colour and you should be able to choose between those @ the Wangan Terminal.

I'm guessing you cant choose stock colours because some stock colours change the car for, instance the R34 Nur and the Impreza RS.

Lets say I already unlocked all 10 inspection colors in MT3DX+. If I transfer to MT4, will I have to re-unlock all the colors, or will I have them unlocked already?

All your progress is transferred from 3DX+ to 4. This includes inspection colours already unlocked.

Ok, so is this correct?
In MT4:
1) You can change your car color to other starting colors then the one you selected.
2) You can unlock more colors (inspection colors) by completing 60 plays, or by playing ghost mode.
2.5) Playing ghost mode unlocks inspection colors and dressup parts.
3) Unlocked inspection colors in 3DX+ are transfered to MT4.
4) You do not need to change your Bana Passport ever, unless it is lost or damaged. (No more renewing)

1.)possibly yes at the Wangan Terminal during renewal of target car's life however at one point there is the Final DU level wherein you can change the target car's color from the selection of currently attained Inspection colors
2.) most likely for every renewal of that target car... as long you use the 60 plays
2.5) By playing ghost outrun online mode unlocks remaining DU levels not inspection colors and only using the 60 plays that you get another inspection colors
3.) Yes, it should be updated in their system
4.) Yes... as long it's not lost and damaged and renewal of target car's data only not the Bana Passport card

Would that be DU level 90?
If I am not mistaken, does that mean with every level up past DU level 90, we can change any one dressup part or change the color of the car?

most likely... if a target car reaches completed DU level, it would better to confirm from who have played the japanese version

otherwise in the terminal there would be in menu of change colors in the Dress Up options...

so far as terminal system is involved we better let the japanese ver. release players reply this part...

Where are we getting the information that you can change the starting color of your car? I haven't seen anything about that in my search for all colors of the new MT4. Believe me when I say I've looked hard. That being said the new MT4 inspection color selection screen show the original color to the far left and doesn't have any viewable options (at least in this video) to change that color. Is this just a random rumor?

You can use your mobile phone (mobile wallet compatible models), and use a mobile phone instead Bana passport card.

Basically how this works is via NFC(Near-Field Communication) in select mobile phones. (Not sure if it will work globally) You may wish to Google for more details about NFC.

From what I think, it will work something like Google Wallet.

So using the access code found on your Banapassport, I suppose you somehow login to your Namco account and link your phone with your card.

That way, when you tap your phone, the machine will read the Access Code stored on your phone and check with their servers for your card data.

As someone who has used a phone instead of a BanaPassport card-

You're half-right. An NFC phone will stand in for a card and can be used with a Namco account. However, the phone gets its own access code, and can't be linked to a separate BanaPassport card.

No idea, maybe since it might be pretty hard to implement.

Its more or less like how people in Japan can use their phones to pay for their purchases.

Note that he above is my take on the most possible scenario. It might not reflect reality.

Thanks for enlightening us! biggrin.gif

Could you give more info on how we can link the phone to our Namco account?

Also can we also link a Banapassport and a phone to the same Namco account?

At Level 90 and above, every dress-up unlock made would go to the colors. Meaning you would be able to change the color of your car on every level up past 90. Feel free to correct me on this though, cause I'm not sure about how the color change works, only that the color unlocks are at level 90 above.

That, sir, is incorrect. Every time you RENEW (60 plays), you unlock and may change to a new color.

Edit: Whoops. Sorry, my mistake, you are right. I thought this was the Ask Anything thread, not the MT4 one.

On linking a phone to a Namco account-

You can do it at the Wangan Terminal- tap your phone on it, touch "Register Now" when prompted, and tap your phone on the terminal again. This time you'll get a web address which will walk you through the registration procedure (linking phone to account) on your phone. And write down the last 20 letters/numbers of the address too- that's your access code and you can use that as if it was a regular BanaPassport.

And no, you can't link a card and phone to the same account, but you can migrate a card to a phone.
