Hi there, I'm new in these forums. I'm Damian, from Argentina. I found this game while lurking on YouTube and I got really excited when I found a (two twin cabinet) MT3dx+ machine in a mall. Some of the excitement went down the pipe when I found out that the mall didn't import the cards and ink so no savegame for us . Needless to say that we have trouble importing/exporting stuff so I think we'll not have the privilege of using the card system for a long while now. Even in-game, the machine doesn't even ask you if you have or not a card, it jumps directly to Car Selection, lol.

Even so, after playing the first five episodes in a row I must say I almost shed a tear of happiness. I can finally play a racing game, that rocks, that is new and that it is NOT Daytona USA... my God all "arcades" here only have Daytona USA 1/2, Scud Race and Cruisin' World... just that, every single one of them... some arcades do have other racing games but nothing special so you can imagine my happiness and w00t reactions when I played that machine. Just awesome.

So awesome that I even started reading the manga xD

Then I decided to get some info on the game/s and the soundtracks, that's when I found this forum... mostly because of the soundtracks, awesome soundtracks lol.

After reading a lot of posts, the official Namco pages, GameFAQs guides, I came up with many unanswered questions. I hope some of you can answer them because I do not want to get any surprises when the card system is (hopefully) available here and start playing seriously:

I had some questions about cloning but I read it's forbidden so I'll just have to search for a solution somewhere else. They are about MT2 and my 8th question anyways

And btw, that mall previously had MT2... with card system functional! However the machine was moved somewhere else and I have trouble contacting the mall authorities about the location of it and on top of that, the machine had few cards left. Shame. The mall has a "Namco Fun Zone" so we could get MT4 if we are lucky.

So that's it. I really hope to play this game the way it is meant to xD

i'll quickly answer a few of these here.

4. after you unlock all the parts, when you gain a level, you get given a menu with all the categories of parts (rims, bodykit, hood) and can change one thing

5. if you unlock a type of rims same manufacturer (eg TE37 then GTM), you can choose from any of the previous rims by that manufacturer you have unlocked and any colour you want. once you are past full dress up level (63 in dx+ , 46 in mt3/dx) then you can change whatever you want so any rims. look in the Dressup Thread for more info

6.you choose your colour at the start, when you renew your card (every 60 games) you unlock a new colour and at that point can choose the new colour or any colours you previously have, for the next 60 games.

I have a question about the machines there, are the card readers just disabled or does it say card not available when you insert your coins (sounds like its disabled if it doesn't even ask)? Here one of the readers broke on our DX+ machines so there's a box on the screen when its idle and showing ghosts etc that says "card reader functions disabled" or something along those lines.

If you could find a way to get the arcade to enable the reader (if it is disabled) then you could probably find someone willing to send you a stock card in the mail and a couple of "blank/used/present" cards you could enjoy the game to its fullest. (you could use the blank/used/presents for renewal ask the arcade to put it in the machines when you have to renew your card after 60 plays). I would totally ask the arcade to look into getting cards for the game though, ask the manager / owners of the establishment.

The "Do you have a card?" screen is disabled. After you put in some credits (don't know how is it in other places, here we use credit card-like rechargable game cards instead of coins or quarters) and pressing the pedal it shows the car selection screen. Nothing else. I haven't seen that "Card Reader Functions Disabled" box yet. I played Story and TA modes and didn't get those messages (I have yet to play Ghost Battle mode). So there might be a slight chance that the reader works but it's just disabled on purpose.

I would need to find someone who will provide me with blank cards or Present/Disused cards thought xD

But I did contact the managers through mail and phone. They say they didn't even have plans of whether getting them or not. If they did want to get them it would be a real pain in the ass anyways as we are having real serious problems importing stuff because of a decision to use national resources... meanwhile we can't get stuff that isn't even made in the country. It sucks so bad...

As weirdo808hi said, you could probably find someone who will provide the blank cards supply. You might want to ask a certain member here by the name of DriftingVG. look for him, PM him, ask him about the cards and what nots. From what I know, he has the know-how on that one.

And it's confirmed, the "Card Reader Functions Disabled" Yellow Box is not present at any time, not when the machine is idle and not inside the menus and in-game so it works. I went last night. I just have to persevere and try to get those lazy guys to buy the cards xD

I spent U$S 25 so far and it's frustrating not being able to save my progress...

I'd rather play the Dead Heat machines that are in front of the MT, at least I can save Dress Up there, lol.
