Quick curiosity.

Is Suntec using standard screens or the 30fps budget TV?

I tried the 30fps cabs about a month or so back at TB (where they use their own card and not 50c coins)... very difficult to adapt for TA running

Suntec are the batch of budget cabs, 30fps..... eyes blur after 1hr of play-.-

Okay, no point. If I was stuck with those again, really no choice but to just spam Story... this is the problem when one doesn't care anymore, but still has several non-FT data to be cleared

How do you tell if the screens are using the budget TV? I can't tell the difference between the two.

In the case of TB they didn't put up the blaring banners on the budget cabinets IIRC.

Other than the obvious blur (which hinders many a split-second decision unless the player was already used to playing 30fps), I find the TV's brightness/contrast etc makes it harder to see things... like the line or the wall.

Plus night.... really like initial D lvl...

I rememebered one of the cabs at TZ Vivocity had the Brightness and Contrast turned up way high. Not certain if it's still the case.

I think the sound in the budget cabs also kinda kns if I recall... but I'm not some acoustics dude.

The standard cab, you have enough speakers to overwhelm your ears directly with the game sound, even with the noisy arcade environment... whereas IIRC the budget cab... dunno how to describe it, like some idkwtf speakers enclosed in some enclosure thingy that audio people use to make the sound seem louder / fake bass / more audible (or whatever it is that they do in that industry) when it's really not...

Or maybe it's just my own placebo...

I think I seen that super high contrast/brightness cab before at Vivo, but that was a proper cabinet... but that was way back in MT4 lol, still remember being there with cabbie but I didn't actually play anything because toxic situation...

Sounds were like mono to me compared to standard ones

The screen was like back to 3-3dx+ days, and all those years i wished and missed those 1-2 graphics...good that they gave HD ones since 4

Nah, you'll find me in Forza now or simply not bothering. Dunno when I'll bother to finish off a few non-FT data.

Even finding time to play on weekdays is too tiring, go home when sky already black... considering transport cost when I only spend $10 or $20 at most and don't touch for 2 months... not worth. I can't even win the screwed-up kiddie scrubs at Nex these days; heck, of all things, I FORGOT how to drive 4WD in the game (and 4WD is supposed to be EASIER to use as per game logic), that's how low I've fallen now...

Of the 1st generation still playing, I saw some guys from TRE once or twice, they've also gone rusty

Those who still play, some are actually still good like some guys from SK if not most are GG already
Personally i saw yh, still the same and i heard the story of how a scrub tried braking Lonly and he told that scrub to find 2 more pals so he can 1v3 them all lol.....

I kind of stopped too. Saving my cash for diecast models and new hardware for my desktop.

I don't see yH as first-gen, still remember his early days at CS with Eagle in the MT3 era iirc... unless others have known him before that. Those were the days . I resent the crowd he races with nowadays, but I won't be surprised if he already knows my thoughts on this. Usually when I see him, the chitchat is civil, so best to leave it at that.

My perception of it, if I was in his shoes... really "damned if you do, damned if you don't" thing. You race those scrub cats, they will piss you the F*** off with their shit. But if you don't race them, sure, you keep your sanity and your $, but your skills will fade as time passes... as did mine.

As for Lonly... the toxic runners of today are 14 years too late to try to take down a player of his level.

Server logs are poor reference for all the bullshit ground level kiddie politics anyway... but I'm digressing.

I never got to know who the first-gen players are, as I only started playing since MT3.

I only saw yH a few times back in Tampines, never got the chance to interact with him.

Too many stories of times long gone, all a memory.

To digress further, I'm curious if the US expansion was because they wanted to, or because of dwindling player count in ASEAN, or some other factors you'd never hear outside of a boardroom...

Maybe because of the dwindling player count. I used to be a part of an MT team, but most of them stopped when MT4 dropped.
